I keep my A. Baenschi pair in a 125ltr, heavily planted with anubis, crypts and ferns, lots of caves, wood and leaf litter, I really don't see them oftem, but they do breed on a regular basis. I have only pencils in with mine Nannostomus eques and Nannostomus beckfordi

Room lights were off, including the other tanks in the room, I don't have any fancy light apart from a EX430(?) flashgun, can just normal lighting be used, table lamps? there just doesn't seem to be anywhere near enough light to get it to look nice, looks great in the flesh(IMHO) just looks very...

Well, a quick update, we lost 'Shimmer' a while ago, we now have 'Maverick' he'll be our last betta, and can't do with them living for such a short time :cry: So we created a nice little home for him, nice and simple, a large bit of wood, some anubais, fern and a few other bits, he has a few...

just a couple more snaps , all quick growing stems are now gone, just the last of the moss to get out, I have gone right off moss, except in my shrimp tank, stuff keeps breaking off and clogging the intakes. JOHNNY

Good news, after nearly killing each other in their quarantine tank our Pelvicachromis "Blue Fin” have finally spawned we moved them into the Rio180 a while ago, they ignored each other for a while then 3 weeks ago they started shimmering with each other and their colours totally changed...

I got this pair from Wharf Aquatics in Pinxton, they had some lovely ones in, I picked the best pair :mrgreen: Most Apsitogramma's would be fine in a 60cm tank. I think this tank is 55cm or maybe a little less, around 2 square feet per pair is normal JOHNNY

Thanks for the coments the tank is around 55ltr :) The small fish are indeed Centromochlus perugaie also know as Tatia perugiae, Tatia reticularis. common names oil cats, Honeycomb Tatia, Oil woodcatfish, beautiful nocturnal fish, mad as hell, not hard to keep and relatively easy to spawn...

a small update. a few of the fish in there and a couple of tank shots, need something thats not quite as unruly as the hygophillia as its a pain to keep down,not trimmed for 4 weeks as I have been working up to and over Christmas. Suggestions? JOHNNY

pretty much yes, I have been adding ammonia on a daily basis and still have a little showing after 24 hours, I want to be able to move a decent amonunt of fish in one go from two other tanks hence the want to build bacteria up to a decent level

Not these types, I'm always on the look out for new ones, see if I can grow them well if they grow too big they will be passed to someone with a bigger tank

fine, very nice, I only took it out for a change, if I use again I will put more in I don't think I had enough in there and some plants were a pig to get rooted properly. Have changed over to Tropica Plant Substrate and silica sand for the time being, see how plant growth goes with that JOHNNY

Nope, didn't work I have several handfuls of moss floating around the tank :( anyone with suggestions of keeping moss tied down, more than welcome, using black cotton at the moment, keep tying it every cm or so, little buggers still remove it!!! JOHNNY

I have changed the way I tied the moss this time, hopefully will stop them tearing it of this time :lol:

Few more weeks of growth, the Pogostemon helferi is completely gone, looks like the fish enjoy eating this, but 5 pots is expensive fish food :shock: They also have a tendency to remove mosses from branches, so I have re attached again! JOHNNY

Well been a while since I updated, I have added a 2nd 11w light, changed the planting, I think it looks way better now, just a few plant species instead of lots of:) JOHNNY

The banjo's should max out at 3-4" I can't remember the exact one they are, there are a lot:) the loaches around 5" to, I have a couple of big tanks they can move too if they get too big JOHNNY

Small update, \got some Laetacara curviceps to replace the Laetacara I lost, also a pair of small banjo cats and a quartet of horseface loaches, thinking about it, it probably wasn't the brightest move putting these in a heavily planted tank. but I like the fish and they are happy. JOHNNY

Thanks for the concern:) the filters have been very well matured they have been up and running on other tanks for 6 months or so. as for overstock, well, possibly, the tank is well over filtered, so shouldn't be any problems with water quality and if they do start getting to big or I start...
