Matte white is actually a better reflector than polished aluminium. With that in mind I bet it wouldn't be too hard to find a white tape - otherwise this aluminium one might not be that bad. Does it rust or anything? Cheers.
What is a good kind of paint to use to paint the inside of a hood - seriously what are manufacturers thinking leaving that black! Would like something that;
1. is waterproof
2. will not crack/brown
3. and which is non-toxic.

Thanks for all the replies. There was a tank I had my eye on with that particular light set-up. Is retrotiffing a canopy relatively straightforward? I have never done so in the UK - might go LED's just for coolness factor and electricity in that case. Cheers!
Tank dimensions are 76cm (L) X 47cm (W) X 53.5cm(H)
Tank comes with 2x13w T5s - dont have much experience with T5s. Planning on growing mosses, ferns, red lotus, anubias, and maybe some ranalisma rostrata in the foreground.

Others may vary in their opinion. Gather all the spare lamps around your house and huddle them next to your tank. Stop dosing (unless your tank is actually bright with these lights). Then hurry up and get some lighting, or your plants are going to start dying in about a week to ten days. Good luck!
