    Co2 Equipment Query

Yes correct, this is a popular method for estimating 30ppm of disolved C02 in the water column. It is not a fail safe method due to a few factors like the accuracy of the pen, whether or not you have hard water or other chemical in the water that might effect the readings but.... it is a very...

    Co2 Equipment Query

Well it is easy enough but it takes all day! Basically you take a PH reading every hour starting just before your gas comes on and every hour until your lights go off. There is a target figure of a one point PH drop by the time your lights come on and a stable PH until lights out. This sometimes...

    Co2 Equipment Query

Do you have fish in the tank? Without fish, adjusting the C02 levels, is a lot easier than with fish! Anyway the best way to understand how it effects the water is by doing a PH profile. You will be useing quite a lot in a 240l tank, my 200l used an uncountable number of BPS. However that...

    flow out of bubble counter

I would suggest that you buy a pen (£10-14) as they really help to show you what the C02. Is doing and how it effects the PH. It might seem a lot of hassle but if you get get the balance right, you will really see the plants flourish!

    flow out of bubble counter

It is all pretty basic stuff once you have it sorted out but we have all warned you that too much gas will kill your fish! Yes you do need some surface movement but if you have too much, you will use more C02 or the C02 you are putting in will just de gas on the surface. I do feel for you as it...

    flow out of bubble counter

Looking at your video, it looks like you have the spray bar holes pointing at the surface, they should be facing straight ahead. I think you will be loosing too much C02 from the surface agitation, you do need a small surface ruffle but, the main point of the spraybar is to try & get a rolling...

    flow out of bubble counter

240l will require a high bubble count, most likely more bubbles than you could count! Some folk who manage perfect flow & maintenance, lighting etc can get by with less than a one point PH drop but, as Ed points out, it is a lot easier to experiment without fish. I think we will need much...

    Efficiency of External Reactor

I might be wrong but I feel your reactor should be perfectly upright?

    Efficiency of External Reactor

If you can get a vortex going on inside it could work ok but they do look like a small unit.

    Efficiency of External Reactor

I think you should try it out, the cheap green reactors you can see for sale, the ones with the bio balls or a plastic spiral inside, work miles better without the contents! Might not work at all but you never know....

Have you tried it without the impellers?

    Efficiency of External Reactor

The reactor is to small to cope with the amount of gas you are injecting to work efficiently! It simply cannot dissolve the gas fast enough. However it will still work after a fashion but if you want to drive at 100mph you are better off in a BMW than a Smart car. How long does it takes the...

    CO2 Reactor - New CO2Art Project

Vortex designs are extremely effective, they don't really seem to have limit of how much gas you can dissolve due to the very long contact time within the reactor. A simple tube with an inlet set at an tangent will send the flow spinning inside ... that's it really! I made a prototype to fit my...

    CO2 Reactor - New CO2Art Project

About time someone made a commercial reactor that can take a decent flow & pipe size. There are many ways to go but keeping the unit small would probably mean either a multi chamber unit or a vortex design, both are very simple in operation. A separate pump powered model has lots of potential as...

Requesting info on the Aquarium CO2 Reactor Diffuser

Only 12-16 hose & even then they have a even smaller hole in the hose fitting. However they work fantastically well used in the corner of your tank, I always take the balls out & use it as a vortex reactor. I have even used them externally, just glued it all together & sat it outside the tank...
