Couldn't sleep last night due to realisation that my drop checker is the largest thing ever created. It literally takes up all the space in my house. So, I saw a very cute ' hang on' drop checker, now I can't find it - any suggestions?
The videos on YouTube highlight the problem. Their pump heads go on easy, mine needs brute strength to push into place. Maybe dipping the seal area in hot water will soften it up enough. Or new seal entirely
That's it! Another snapped bit of plastic. second hand filter with no instructions on priming etc. Can someone explain how to close these filters without breaking the handle doo-dah? I hate these stupid, needlessly fiddly filters. I'm gonna punch myself in the face with rage. Good day.
that is part of the problem- i need the turn over because it is my hight tech tank. the flow is super fast due to the very short spray bar, so am hoping the 4 x length new spray bar across the length of the back glass will decrease velocity but deliver full length flow, distribution of co2 etc...
ah yes. was looking online last night. eheim do extension kits, 2x10 cm lengths for 4 pounds. i need 80 cm extension, so i will do that. just to keep the whole thing uniform. and also the eheim spraybar i have is new and dont' want to waste it. cheers.
hey everyone, i really have to decrease water velocity from my standard spraybar- my boraras simply will not venture out- they get blasted by the flow. so was hoping to hear if there are any off the shelf, cheap extensions i can buy that are compatible. basically i need to run the spray bar the...
do not change any sponges until they start falling apart- this could take many years. buy the cheapest white pads you can find, cutting to shape is fine.
hey, i just cut my sponges up. using those sharp things.... hmmmm. let me see... SCISSORS! any shape you like. i did it, get rid of the ugly box in the corner of the tank!
you could keep th filter running in a bucket. Feed it ammonia. And be fully ready for the new scape- just replace some with the matrix when you are ready
with two filters you can use one for co2 diffusion and the other carrying out the biological filtration. That is what i do- spray bars are a great way to get good flow around the tank. As for media- purigen is a must . I was shocked by how invisible it made my water. Some nice porous ceramics...
removing that filter is the best thing i have done to my 260. I went with 2 smaller eheims for my very small fish. I would suggest you get the best filter you can. A big eheim is good. The 2080.
sorry. I cannot access that link. I used a 900 l nano powerhead. They work well at moving water in a calm manner. If you have dirt settling in your tank you probably need the filter. Although a powerhead can increase flow to help move any dirt to the filter intake.
depends on what you want the filter to do. If it is just to increase bio filtration then yes. If you desire greater water circulation to catch suspended matter then get as big a filter as you can. How about powerheads?
stick the big eheim ecco pro on your tank. I have two on my 260 litre. Very quiet and cheap to run. Very cheap on ebay too. I saved well over 150 pounds buying pre used.
purigen adsorbs nitrogenous compounds and can be recharged in a bleach solution. so should last for ten recharges . how long between recharges depends on your tank conditions.
i am currently ripping out my jewel filter, just got an eheim 2036 off ebay ( 750 litre per hour) for the bio filtration. next i will get another large filter to handle water column debris. i would say you need 2 big filters for the 260. or one very large one.
