    Best time to water change.

One hour of fluctuating CO2 levels/week doesn't trigger a BBA bloom, I do the water changes whenever I have the time. Organic matter build up on the other hand feeds the algae so whenever you have some spare time do a large water change.

How many hours before light do you start the CO2 addition?

    Water test...

Diatoms appear when there's not enough bacterial activity in your tank/filter, rule out silica, it's only a myth, on the other hand moss is a dirt trap, vacuum it or trim it at every weekly water change. Shrimps can clear it for you if you have enough. Mike

Soft water, PH drop and substrate

It dropped to 4.5-5 in the first 6 months when using soft water (1dKH) in my aquarium, no issues with my fish though, mainly soft water ones, you can use a PH buffer if needed like sodium bicarbonate if needed. :)

    New tank cycling(Stress Zyme)

I don't really like transferring dirt from one tank to another but I use bacteria cultures, doesn't really matters which brand. The cheapest one here is JBL Filter Start ~2£.

    Remineralising RO

Skatersav having a RO unit it's better than collecting rainwater which I think is way more polluted in the city than the tap water. Adding remineralizing salts in it it's as easy as adding a dechlorinator to the tap so I don't see any difference. :) Mike

High amount of silicate in tap water

Lower the PAR to 30-40 from 80-90, dose EI and have a little patience. Mike

    Which Test Kit?

@dazzer1975 you're right the only test kit that you should own is the drop checker for fresh water planted aquariums. Mike
