    What am I doing wrong?

Sometimes the white line is dried biofilm not limescale. Do 2 x 30-50% / week water changes in the first month then 50%/week. Aim for a lime green drop checker at the beginning of the photo-period, for example I need to start adding CO2 3.5h before lights to achieve that. Place the drop checker...

Short easy carpet for a beginner?

Just try them, buy a pot of whatever you like, divide it in small bits and plant it. 1-2-grow are the best choice inmho. With liquid carbon you need to wait a month before they start growing but once they have you'll get the nice carpet, patience and perseverance are the key. Ensure some decent...

Short easy carpet for a beginner?

You are ok with the light, 2-4ml ec / day (depending on the plant mass) is my normal dose for t5 24w in a similar tank. You can try any carpeting plant, never tried UG with liquid carbon but the rest were ok, just have a little patience since they grow a bit slow, the original leaves might die...

hydrocotyle sp Japan in cat litter

You can cut it like grass, if you don't have any issues (algae outbreak due to poor CO2/flow/filter maintenance) in your tank it will grow again fine. I usually cut the runners that aren't rooted and replant them (individual leaves) if I need to fill some areas or cut the leaves that don't look...

hydrocotyle sp Japan in cat litter

I grow it with EC in different types of soil from light to heavy ones so no worries there, don't use lead, just constant trim it to make it grow horizontally. Corys might uproot it, try and bury it a bit deep if they become a nuisance. Not the best plant for a flat lawn but after it thickens it...

Hi, Upload the photos on Flickr then hit Share -> Grab the HTML/BBCode and paste it in your post. You might have to rise your lights and improve the CO2 distribution. Lowering the light intensity gives them more room to transition and start growing healthy. If you can't rise them cut some of...

    HC Woes.....

If your glosso is growing only horizontal the CO2 at the bottom should be fine. It could be only the HC transitioning to your tank's conditions, might take a couple of weeks before it grows as it should. I usually don't care about it loosing its emersed leaves.

whats wrong plants not doing as well at all

You should consider making a bigger home for the discus, for its size I wouldn't make one smaller than 3-400l. Turning my Plants Red?

There are two reasons why I prefer medium over high lighting: - high light stresses fish if there's not enough shade provided. Turning my Plants Red?

Clean tank with good flow keeps you away from BGA. High nitrates not really sure but definitely good plant health plays a big role, if they start decaying the algae will return on short notice, so, it's advisable to lower nitrates slowly so they can adapt to changes. Also try and lower intensity...
