    Where are you from?

Whereabouts in Kent are you? I used to live there, Gillingham to be precise. Still got friends and family there. Some friends went to Priestfield to see the Gills lose to Aston Villa, although they put up a good fight by all accounts. We used to say that if Kent was the garden of England, then...

    Where are you from?

Hey, you're just showing off! When did you get to drive one? The line down at Alton were offering drives of the restored Bittern (a sister of Mallard) for £500 a pop. A bit much for my measly wage....

    Where are you from?

Ooh, you're near the steam trains! Chooo! Chooo! I've been down there a few times with my son.

    What/who are you listening too?

Didn't Emiliana Torrini sing a tune in one of the Lord of the Rings films? I've been listening to the latest Bjork album quite a lot "Volta". I've been a big fan since her first solo album, but she went off the rails musically speaking for the last couple. The new one though is definitely a...

    What do you do?

I saw a programme a few years ago on the "phenomonon(sp?) of ebay" and this bloke wondered around on a beach picking up used bits of rope left over from fisherman and then sold it on ebay to prove "you can get money for old rope". He did sell it - to some one who wanted to tie down tarpaulin...

Which would you rather have? large aquarium or large pond?

A large pond in a conservatory with steps leading down underneath.... But I'd have to employ staff to clean it!

Anyone familiour with A level shakespeare, King Lear?

 Oh dear. Never mind. I had to read Jane Austin's Pride And Prejudice when I did my English Lit 'O' level (I was in the last year to do them before GCSEs came in). I watched the film and wrote about it. I got a 'U'..... Doesn't seem that important now though.

    Pronunciation

I've always pronounced it den-er-lee. Probably completely wrong though! George is probably right. BTW, did you know Lowenbrau beer is pronounced Lurven-brow. You'd get some odd looks asking for a pint of it like that though....

    Is Hell exothermic or endothermic?

I don't have a degree in anything. What chance do I stand?!

    What do you do?

Sounds like George has the most interesting job - both of them! I write embedded software for commercial and defence systems. I've done stuff for aircraft and train control software and I'm now working on an air traffic control system.

    Catfish!

He was just testing the wood to make sure it didn't topple. Our cat used to sit on the edge of the armchair and watch the fish for a while and jump occasionally but after a few weeks realised he couldn't get them and didn't bother after that. Used to jump onto the lid though as it was nice and...

    Giant goldfish

Aren't goldfish and crucian carp a different species? I read somewhere that there was a danger that true crucians were being wiped out because they were inbreeding with goldfish that people had 'disposed' of in public lakes/ponds.

    FREE Filter with PFK!

So who actually got their filter? I saw the newsletter but it was a couple of weeks after it was sent so I guessed the stocks would have been exhausted by then. It's a bit crafty to pull people in and then give them something else, there should be a dedicated link so you know what you're...

    new Mac ultra thin notebook

Have you decided yet? I'm looking for a laptop too, but as a second to my PC desktop, ideally around 12" screen. Do Macs come this small? Would a macbook connect wirelessly to my PC so I can move files about (music, pictures etc) between them?

    Cheltenham - What's it like?

It's a nice place. Lots of regency places that look like film sets and house prices to match. I don't know what the night life is like but the pubs are good. It's also near The Aquatic Habitat

    Got kids?

My little boy who's also 3 was quite interested and I was teaching him the names of the fish and he was 'helping' with the feeding. Seemed to be going well until a friend of the same age came round and they decided to feed the fish by tipping the whole pot in. This was the day before we moved...

    Happy Xmas and well done!

Just wanted to say Happy Xmas to everyone and well done to all the founding fathers of UKAPS. It's been great to see everything come together so quickly. Although I'm relatively new I've seen it grow hugely since I joined and I just wanted to say congratulations and thank you to all the hard...

    Anyone one want free Sky+?

Well, for us the broadband and phone calls upgrade will be free so it makes sense for us to get those as we're currently paying tiscali £17.99 for them. Presumably the offer you've had is for someone completely new to Sky?

    Anyone one want free Sky+?

Don't Sky have a current offer where you can get Sky+ for £49, depending on package? We currently have the full works which costs a whopping £45 or so. Because of our little one we don't get a chance to watch any films and only a bit of football, so it's wasted. Something came through the...

    New job

I'm in a quandary. I have had two new job offers, one in Bath and one in Bristol. I can get the train to Bath in 15 minutes, the workplace is a couple of minutes walk up the road and I can cycle to the train station in about 10 minutes. The one in Bristol is about 35 minutes by car. The idea of...

    New Card Scam

To stop alot of this going on they should stop companies from sending out goods to addresses other than the card holder. Some companies do it and sometimes it's a pain if you're lodging temporarily somewhere, but it would make things alot safer.
