    Saltpetre for macros?

I'm no expert but I wouldn't put Flourish Excel in with the Macros, I don't know the possibilities of potential reactions just instinct tells me. Potassium Sorbate is cheap enough.

    EI Half Dose

A man of my own heart. I enjoy trimming an odd spent/unwanted leaf off of an odd Crypt now and again but two hours of trimming, removing trimmings and replanting per week is a thing of the past for me, that is after initial start-up and the gradual replacement of most of the stem plants.

OK mate, that's gone beyond my understanding and looks like a job for creators, I'm sure Zeus or Hanuman will be along presently.

Have you then looked in the drop down menu title 'Which one'? As you can see the CLONE WEEKLY TARGET VALUES has already been populated for ADA Brighty, there should be all the other commercial fertz in there too.

    IFC Aquarium Fertilizer Calculator

What @Hanuman said, Just look at all the values for the different brands in the 'Do you want to clone a fertilizer' drop down box to get an idea of the contents of these fertilizers. If you are new to this, EI Dosing mid is a good starting point or just clone your favourite commercial brand.

    EI dosing and tank parameters

That's very good for a first attempt, learning to grow the plants is the biggest leap forward you can make and it appears you are well on your way. Cheers!

    EI dosing and tank parameters

Hi, If you have got access to Excel and you want to learn about fert regimes I can't recommend anything better than to familiarise yourself with the IFC Aquarium Fertilizer Calculator it looks a tad daunting at first but if I can learn it anyone can. You can set your targets and find out the...

    Questions about custom ferts.

Hi, I've never done a dark start so I'm definitely no expert on the process but from my understanding it will likely only deal with the nitrogen cycle (and possibly one two other things). There are a thousand and one other processes with the development of microbes that we need in our tanks...

    Targeting Potassium

Cheers for the suggestions everyone but kind of what I am endeavouring to achieve is minimal TDS coupled with an interest in nutrient quantities/ratios. The difference between these ratios e.g. dosing full EI or using TSN is astronomical. Just slowly reducing EI until my Crypts start melting is...

    Targeting Potassium

Good evening all, I have a question or 2. Obviously I've seen photos of most of your aquariums and those that I have I know what you are growing but... Question 1, Would you guys and girls advocate the above water parameters (and lean dosing, ratios etc) for all tanks, whether for stems only or...

    KNO3 and Urea

Hi, I've been doing this for the last 2 years without any problems at all that I'm aware of. I only mix up a 4 week supply at a time though. Cheers!

    Lean dosing pros and cons

I'm following this thread with great interest and would like to enquire if anyone thinks that this lean dosing method would be of any benefit to tanks largely containing Crypts, Buce and Swords etc...? It may have already been mentioned but it's so long now I cannot remember. Thanks!

    Tropica specialized on RO water.

Have you got any Crypts, if so you're likely to get some melt?

Reaction/precipitation of dry salts (fertilization + remineralization)

I have been using it in small amounts in conjunction with other salts for years, since there was a thread on here (I can't seem to find it) many years ago where a lot of people were claiming to have better growth when nitrate wasn't solely supplied via KNO3. No, Fertz consist of KNO3, KH2PO4...

Reaction/precipitation of dry salts (fertilization + remineralization)

I add 4g x Calcium Nitrate, 4.5g x Calcium Sulphate, 4.5g x Calcium Chloride, 9g x Magnesium Sulphate and 3g x Potassium Carbonate to 130l of water resulting in 4.79 dGH and 0.94 dKH, every week using a small circulation pump without any problems. If for any reason my water change gets knocked...

    TNC Plugs question

Hi, Has anyone used these in the past, I would like to know if they are similar to Tropica Nutrition Capsules? According to both of their websites Tropica lasts 1-2 months and TNC 6 months and above. I last used Tropica in my larger tank but the longevity between the two would make TNC a more...

Hi @Zeus. I'm remineralising RO with Calcium Chloride, Calcium Sulphate, Magnesium Sulphate and Potassium Carbonate to dGH5 & dKH1. Do you think I would be better off deducting the amount of Mag & Pot from EI fert dosing or just treat it as a separate entity? Many thanks for your time!

500 Litres, and need lots of help.

hi, after keeping various large aquaria for well over 3 decades and then reading through the original post something didn't quite add up in my head, according to my calculations, 150cm x 60 x 45 = 405 litres, also i've been 'ei' dosing a 300 litre aquarium for the last 20 months and those...
