I had heard about poor service from them, and wasn't going to spend my money there. Just waiting 2 weeks now for delivery from ND aquatics, who have been first class throughout. Personally i would get your money back, via polite email and then charge back due to unreasonable production lead time.

Botia Striata and snail traps should do the trick, and patience. ;)

I use to store and heat water to the correct temp, but now all i do is use a split hose with hose locks connections on my hot and cold water taps and turn on. Easy. :mrgreen:

I always use a clean dust pan for scooping up the substrate. :mrgreen:

I used the AE set of 5 tools, but mostly used the long tweezers, and also a JBL razor blade like glass cleaner, and a dustpan for sculpting aquasoil.

When i originally bought my 720 litre, i also purchased the Back to Nature Amazonia background, which was visually stunning, but as you can guess, had very poor circulation, fish would get trapped and breed behind the background, and planting space was limited to around 1/5 of the area of the...

The Green Machine are selling some unusual mosses at the moment, all rare Tropica strains, and they are very cool. As for tankmates, maybe worth checking out some of the microrasboras at your LFS.

I checked my bottles of Protozin (not marine), and if the dosing is done the same, over days, you probably will be ok. But on the safe side, i'd probably do a 50% water change as you have pointed out different chemical structure of the products. How is everything doing at the moment?

Ooops, just remembered to turn the heater back on after a water change this mourning. :lol:

Here's a few... While carrying out a large water change, using mains water being run into the tank via a couple of rubber hose joined with 15mm plastic pipe. Well someone stepped on the rubber hose (probably me), which caused the pipes to come apart. So there is mains water being run inside...

Personally if your following everything that Clive has said, then i feel that it's your 2 wet and dry filters that may be letting you down, removing to much Nitrate and Co2. Unless of course there is some benefit that i am unaware of myself. Good luck, and please don't give up. :mrgreen:

Me bad. :lol: :lol: But too keep stems nice and long for a deep tank, you have to pull them out, cut to desired length, cutting off the roots, then re-plant. Thats why i only have 4 stems in my tank. :roll: But if you want the bushy effect, then hack away. :mrgreen:

Hi Sye, and welcome to the forum. So how many gallons/litres does she hold then? I run an Aquamass in-line CO2 reactor on my 160G which is fed by an eheim pro 3e, and a tunze powerhead, so CO2 distribution seems pretty good allround. And tut tut, we don't cut stems now, they can release...

I roughly drain out about 2-300 litres (out of 720), then stick the garden hose in, fill to the top, and add ferts and chemicals. :mrgreen:

Hey, can i change my answer to NO please. Removed mine when the subsrate when anerobic, removed all deponit mix and gravel, and 2 heating cables, and exchanged for ADA aqua soil. :mrgreen:

Thanks Dan. Deep down i want to wash my hands of any traces of Dennerle from my tank, so the heating cables will be coming out. And i have always felt the depth of substrate was incorrect. It's a shame i didn't meet George a year ago, all the money i would have saved. Just have to save up...

Yes that tank is coming on very well, but haven't been in for a couple of weeks, as i keep spending too much money. Did you see the Eustralis Stellata mother plants in that tank, these came from my tank not soo long ago but i wanted to minimise on background plants. But i do like HC foreground...

Ok Dan i put the tweezers in, and i did get a few little bubbles, probably around 2-5 each time. I put the tweezers right through the gravel and deponit mix, so about 10cm all the way to the bottom. So is it rip out time. :( . Maybe :mrgreen: . Andy, i have had the odd bit of blue/green...

Yes, could be an eggy / dust bin smell. I was thinking about removing the deponit mix, heating cables and replacing with ADA amazonia, and not having such a thick substrate. What do you think? Could it be the deponit mix going anaerobic, or the 100's of trumpet snails digging...

I don't think so, fish stock is quite low for this size, and my shrimp army soon swarm over any dead matter, ie dead tetra. :roll:

Is it normal for a tank to have a smelly odour, or as my other half says, "that tank stinks!" The tank is 720 litres,i change about a 1/3 of the water every 3/4 weeks. It does have heating cables with Dennerle deponit mix, and 2-3mm gravel on top. The depth of the substrate is around 10cm. Also...

Hi Amy, i'm glad you've found this site before ordering. Because unlike me, i got suckered into the Dennerle scheme, and paid about £1000 more for equipment that i did not need. I do have the full dennerle range, including 2000G classic line co2 with ph controller, 2 x 75 watt cable...

Hi Sanj, you said your house was previously a two up, two down property, is the house from a round the turn of the Century? Maybe worth having a check of the condition of the boards where the new tank will be kept, have a check for any wood worm in the floor boards and also the joists below...
