Asda sell thin bleach which I've been using for a while now. Think I've used a morrisons one too. Thin bleach and no added perfumes. Cleans up lily pipes and regenerates purigen no problem

Yes I use a inline diffuser. Lots of others on here use an inline so I'm not sure that is doing it. mine is rather difficult to remove now.

I have exactly the same thing. I need to forcefully remove the hose adaptor, to the point I'm worried I'm going to pull the pipes off. I don't have a solution but I'm following to see what others say.

I'm not sure what brand mine is, I know its not chihiros. Bought from a UK aquascaping shop. Lots of members on this forum would have the exact same pipe. Does anyone else have the same issue?

May be worth trying, I'm not sure what effect it will have however. Can the plastic absorb some bleach like it would certain meds etc?

That colour is still there after using hot water and a pipe brush, it's also the same colour inside the cabinet so I'm not sure if it's due to light. I've not tried soaking it as I wasn't sure anybody else soaked their pipes in bleach, seemed a little excessive TBH.

Hi guys, After some help with my clear filter pipes, I clean my pipes every week when I do my water changes, however the pipes are really starting to stain for some reason. It's a bit bizarre as the pipe is clean where my lily's sit. The pipes are about 9 months old. Can anyone help?

I wash everything under the tap. Sponges, media, media trays the lot. Never noticed any adverse effects on livestock.

Hold the floaty skimmer bit in the correct place and use a syringe to inject air under the head, done that a few times and seems to work

I've had problems with mine too, drives the other half mad. I've managed to wedge a small piece of frogbit between, seems to keep it floating just in the right place, but I agree when it starts bobbing there's just no stopping it. [emoji15]

I use a APS skimmer and it gets a weekly clean, I also replace the filter floss inside every week on water change day. So quick to do and they do catch a lot of crud.

I wouldn't say that was overpowered, maybe try the floss, or hardscape or plants to try and soften the flow.

How big is your tank? This quoted output on the filter is a lot higher than the actual output. However if you really wanted to reduce flow you could simply add filter floss to a few baskets, cram it full of biomedia, but not sure why you'd want too. I was thinking the exact same thing. I know many others use the 600 on the AS900 successfully but it always was 'underpowered' by the numbers and the 'magic' 10x rule.

Are you sure you want to reduce the flow? If yes then putting more media in the filter would work or using different lily pipes like a spin or poppy.

I use the jet pipe too maximise flow TBH, and no I just lift the lily at night to create more surface agitation.

I have used the blau nano lilys for my 55l scapers tank. It has a oase 250 on it with 900 lph and the flow is not too much at all, the lily's are nice and short too. Very small and doesn't distract from the tank.

Aquarium Gardens sell clear hose, I think quite a few people on here use it, myself included.

@Chrisjb330 yes this is my fx6, just measured. So roughly 30cm without taking motor into account.

Circumference is approx 30cm with 10cm extra on one side for the motor.

It's should move it enough depending on scape design and whether it's planned to be high or low tech. Mine seems to be fine at the mo. It's the 10x turnover for your tank so should be fine. Mine was second hand (on a budget as second tank wasn't a 'neccesity') [emoji849]

I use the same filter on a scapers tank, the flow isn't the strongest (but I'm used to an fx6) but it doesn't need to be the strongest. It's a nice and small filter and it was cheap enough for the second tank. Maintenance is nice and easy especially with double taps on the pipes.

Yea ebay are pretty good with things like that, and. I suppose 8 quid wouldn't have bankrupted either... Yea 12/16mm pipework, off a fluval 306 reduced down slightly.

Took it to the support centre today. They took it apart and replaced a few more seals inside the head unit. Apparently the gasket needed replacing. But all in all they said it's leak free so hopefully sorted.

Checked and cleaned that area. Thanks, just taken it all apart and cleaned meticulously. Put it all back together and leaking. It's like the canister itself is not closing/sealing properly. Dropping of at the local service centre tomorrow for a couple of days. Maybe they can find the issue.

Now u mention it I was looking at that yesterday as they don't pull down as hard as my fluval 306 that it's replacing. Obviously a cheaper option than a new head unit. [emoji106]

New seals fitted and still leaking. It's not a crack as it leaks whichever way I tilt it. So therefore it's not sealed all the way. Anyone got any ideas?

Thank you. The strange thing is that it only starts leaking when the pressure has built up and all 3 pipes are fully working. But when it starts it's quite a leak. I've checked the filter basket itself for leaks and that's fine. It's only when the filter is fully up and running.

Do the media baskets need to be inside? I was purely checking the filter for leaks before plumbing it in, as bought it yesterday. Does the filter not seal correctly without the baskets?

Thank you that's a really good suggestion. I have used shrink tubing on my fishing rods for years and stands up to a lot of abuse (weather, bait, fish etc) so that could be the perfect solution. Do you know if algae would go on it/become a problem as scrubbing shrink tubing has never worked in...

Anybody know or used a fish/shrimp safe paint for painting my fx6s pvc-u spray bar? It's grey pipe but I'm thinking it would be hidden better if it was black.

I don't have any experience with any of your direct choices but I have with the fluval fx6. Very good mechanical filter. Produces plenty of flow and good on tanks much larger than yours. Only downside are the pipes and pipe accessories. I own one and wouldn't change.
