How noisy should a biomaster thermo 250 be?

I've tried the foam/insulating cabinet, however I still get moaned at about the loud humming noise. I'd switch filters but not sure what my alternatives are really.

How noisy should a biomaster thermo 250 be?

I'll start by saying I like my oase biomaster 600, (owned a 250 and it was similar in noise levels) but they are up there with the noisiest filters I've owned, I would go as far as saying it is noisier than my fluval fx6. Which is a shame as they are good reliable filters and the prefilter is a...

    UK Purigen Users Only

Asda sell thin bleach which I've been using for a while now. Think I've used a morrisons one too. Thin bleach and no added perfumes. Cleans up lily pipes and regenerates purigen no problem

Oase Biomaster hard to remove prefilter and hose adapter (under pressure)

Yes I use a inline diffuser. Lots of others on here use an inline so I'm not sure that is doing it. mine is rather difficult to remove now.

Oase Biomaster hard to remove prefilter and hose adapter (under pressure)

I have exactly the same thing. I need to forcefully remove the hose adaptor, to the point I'm worried I'm going to pull the pipes off. I don't have a solution but I'm following to see what others say.

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

I'm not sure what brand mine is, I know its not chihiros. Bought from a UK aquascaping shop. Lots of members on this forum would have the exact same pipe. Does anyone else have the same issue?

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

May be worth trying, I'm not sure what effect it will have however. Can the plastic absorb some bleach like it would certain meds etc?

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

That colour is still there after using hot water and a pipe brush, it's also the same colour inside the cabinet so I'm not sure if it's due to light. I've not tried soaking it as I wasn't sure anybody else soaked their pipes in bleach, seemed a little excessive TBH.

    Clear filter pipe discolouration

Hi guys, After some help with my clear filter pipes, I clean my pipes every week when I do my water changes, however the pipes are really starting to stain for some reason. It's a bit bizarre as the pipe is clean where my lily's sit. The pipes are about 9 months old. Can anyone help?

Eheim Professional 3 Thermo Heater Issue

I had a similar experience with a 1200xlt, the led display stopped working, an eheim spares guy (don't remember the name) offered to replace the head unit but like you say this was at a high price.

    Advice Needed

Hi, the answer depends on your future plans/aims. Are you planning co2 and high lighting or non co2 route? The 407 gives a quoted circulation of 1450 litres per hour. Which is under the recommended 10x rule that is usually aimed at for a planted tank, of course there are ways to bump up the flow...

    Media Cleaning

Exactly that, I always make sure the water is around room temp, not freezing cold or scalding hot, but we're talking a reasonably quick blast of fresh water that removes a lot of crud. Just thinking out loud here so don't shoot me down please, but could we compare it to washing our hands, in...

    Glass aqua pipe set help

Hold the floaty skimmer bit in the correct place and use a syringe to inject air under the head, done that a few times and seems to work

    Glass aqua pipe set help

I've had problems with mine too, drives the other half mad. I've managed to wedge a small piece of frogbit between, seems to keep it floating just in the right place, but I agree when it starts bobbing there's just no stopping it. [emoji15]

how often do you clean a surface skimmer?

I use a APS skimmer and it gets a weekly clean, I also replace the filter floss inside every week on water change day. So quick to do and they do catch a lot of crud.

Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100 - How to reduce flow?

I wouldn't say that was overpowered, maybe try the floss, or hardscape or plants to try and soften the flow.
  18. SRP3006

Oase FiltoSmart Thermo 100 - How to reduce flow?

How big is your tank? This quoted output on the filter is a lot higher than the actual output. However if you really wanted to reduce flow you could simply add filter floss to a few baskets, cram it full of biomedia, but not sure why you'd want too. My biomaster 250 is rated to 900lph and I used...

How to increase flow in a 60L cube

On my 55l scapers tank Im running the same filter and pipes but have the blau jet style pipes which seem to create more than enough flow around the tank. Also as @dw1305 mentions I have changed my prefilter sponges to the higher grade orange ones, and removed a blue sponge from inside to allow...

New Oase Biomaster 850 coming to a tank near you soon.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I know many others use the 600 on the AS900 successfully but it always was 'underpowered' by the numbers and the 'magic' 10x rule.

Glass Pipes for a 30L Nano Aquarium

Are you sure you want to reduce the flow? If yes then putting more media in the filter would work or using different lily pipes like a spin or poppy.

Glass Pipes for a 30L Nano Aquarium

I use the jet pipe too maximise flow TBH, and no I just lift the lily at night to create more surface agitation.

Glass Pipes for a 30L Nano Aquarium

I have used the blau nano lilys for my 55l scapers tank. It has a oase 250 on it with 900 lph and the flow is not too much at all, the lily's are nice and short too. Very small and doesn't distract from the tank.

External Filter For 240L Fluval Rio

    External filter for 30L tank

There are some very well priced lillys on aquarium Gardens website that would suit a small tank, there are also plenty on ebay and lots of cheaper ones from China, just a bit of a risk imo if they are no good. I recently bought a set for just over £30, granted not the best you can buy but they...

    External filter for 30L tank

It's should move it enough depending on scape design and whether it's planned to be high or low tech. Mine seems to be fine at the mo. It's the 10x turnover for your tank so should be fine. Mine was second hand (on a budget as second tank wasn't a 'neccesity') [emoji849]
  30. SRP3006

    External filter for 30L tank

I use the same filter on a scapers tank, the flow isn't the strongest (but I'm used to an fx6) but it doesn't need to be the strongest. It's a nice and small filter and it was cheap enough for the second tank. Maintenance is nice and easy especially with double taps on the pipes.

    awkward and small pipework problem

Yea ebay are pretty good with things like that, and. I suppose 8 quid wouldn't have bankrupted either... Yea 12/16mm pipework, off a fluval 306 reduced down slightly.

Fluval 407 vs OASE Thermo 600

Pipes when they look dirty TBH, prob every 3 months. Filter, every week as part of my weekly water change. To clean I disconnect with the quick adaptor, take the pipes outside and flush them through with the hose and a pipe brush. To be fair mine is running almost empty, more to supplement...

Fluval 407 vs OASE Thermo 600

I have a 407 and I find it a good quiet filter. Can be a pain to prime but that only needs doing when you clean the pipes. Mine is filled with coarse sponge and I have a pre filter in the tank which catches a lot of waste. I've changed the piping to eheim so I can run an external heater and the...

Canot make up my mind, thoughts?

I have a fluval fx6 and a 306 and have never had any problems with them leaking, granted I don't shake them so I don't know if they would if I did. Out of interest why do you shake your filter? Does the primer and the filter running for a short period of time not remove all the air? I...

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

Took it to the support centre today. They took it apart and replaced a few more seals inside the head unit. Apparently the gasket needed replacing. But all in all they said it's leak free so hopefully sorted.

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

Checked and cleaned that area. Thanks, just taken it all apart and cleaned meticulously. Put it all back together and leaking. It's like the canister itself is not closing/sealing properly. Dropping of at the local service centre tomorrow for a couple of days. Maybe they can find the issue.
  39. SRP3006

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

Now u mention it I was looking at that yesterday as they don't pull down as hard as my fluval 306 that it's replacing. Obviously a cheaper option than a new head unit. [emoji106]

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

New seals fitted and still leaking. It's not a crack as it leaks whichever way I tilt it. So therefore it's not sealed all the way. Anyone got any ideas?

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

Thank you. The strange thing is that it only starts leaking when the pressure has built up and all 3 pipes are fully working. But when it starts it's quite a leak. I've checked the filter basket itself for leaks and that's fine. It's only when the filter is fully up and running.

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

    Eheim 1200xlt leaking

    Spray bar and pipe paint

Thank you that's a really good suggestion. I have used shrink tubing on my fishing rods for years and stands up to a lot of abuse (weather, bait, fish etc) so that could be the perfect solution. Do you know if algae would go on it/become a problem as scrubbing shrink tubing has never worked in...

    Filter for 120P (poll)

I don't have any experience with any of your direct choices but I have with the fluval fx6. Very good mechanical filter. Produces plenty of flow and good on tanks much larger than yours. Only downside are the pipes and pipe accessories. I own one and wouldn't change.
