    AS900- restart and rethink.

Quality plants as always from @Aquarium Gardens, planting went quite well on Friday night, no dramas except from the normal glued fingers 😀 Some of the crypts have started melting already so I'm doing daily water changes to keep on top of the waste. Few ramshorn snails and cherry shrimp have...

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Eleocharis might be the right one then, don't want it to look messy or for the plant to grow literally everywhere, as you say I'll give it a try.
  3. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Thanks. I've found Hemianthus micramthemoides to be an extremely fast grower in previous tanks, plus I like to use a few different floaters at start up to help with all the excess. I'm also pondering adding blyxa japonica (in place of the other two) along the rock line which also grows pretty rapid.

    New Decade, New Decadence...

Be neither. I realised mine had all died off when I took down my last scape, but I don't really remember them ever having much interest in algae. Dropping a algae wafer in however, that had a different response. Probably won't be stocking them this time around. @Geoffrey Rea thank you for going...

    The Root Among The Rocks

Looking good @Deano3 , those rummynose tetras looking cracking in the scape. Good choice in my opinion.
  6. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Thanks. The layout changed slightly due to me not being able to replicate the same scape after removing the card 🙄 I don't have another bit of wood but I think I've removed the empty space to the right by using more rocks and moving the wood slightly. It's currently working through a dark start...

    New Decade, New Decadence...

Very interested to see how you bring this back to glory, had something similar happen before and had no idea how to fix it. Is it a case of manual removal and ensuring the co2 and ferts are on point?
  8. SRP3006

    The Root Among The Rocks

I'll try adding some leaves when the tank is up and running again. Hopefully the cories and otos will like the extra food/cover it provides
  9. SRP3006

    The Root Among The Rocks

What sort of dried leaves are we talking about? Do you just go out and collect anything? @shangman Is there a certain rule on what's good and what's not when it comes to fallen leaves? Sorry to hijack @Deano3 😁 What fish are you planning @Deano3
  10. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Had to break the tank down due to having some flooring done. This has allowed me to play about with layouts. I've missed not having the tank for the last 6 weeks or so and itching to get it up and running again. Trying an triangle layout this time with a larger foreground sand area to the front...

    The Edible Scape

Amazing! Can't believe all the plants are edible, what a gorgeous scape 😎
  15. SRP3006

    Sandy Nook . . .

I prefer that if I'm honest, I really like the whole scape. Much better scale, the cories will love all that space.
  16. SRP3006

    Sandy Nook . . .

Very impressive @Wookii, very nicely done. What back-light are you running on that? Looks very good. Making me itch for a rescape, maybe when the days get shorter 😊
  17. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

9 months. Ticking along nicely. Soil on the sand still driving me crazy but apart from that all the plants seem to be happy. Had a little outbreak of bba on some of the buce on the left hand side. A bit of an oversight from me as direct sun was hitting the tank for 20 minutes early in the...

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Always wanted pygmy corydoras in my tanks, have struggled to find good stock locally until today so couldn't resist and bought 8. Cute little things, hopefully they settle in nicely. 😍

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Thanks Jay. Colours not sure to be honest. The ferts haven't helped me, messing about with them too much and also I've trimmed my stems back too much so they're only just filling back in, time will tell. The plants have filled in and grown a lot more. The monte carlo has exploded so much I...

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Thank you, Thanks Dean Rescape itch hasn't set in as yet, quite happy with the scape as a whole and enjoying watching it grow. If I could redo it I'd make sure I plugged all the holes in the hardscape/and not have the soil so high. Bits of soil on the sand drive me mad. Also the whole scape...

    AS900- restart and rethink.

8 months now. Enjoying this tank. Have stopped messing about with my ferts, tried to move to a lean dosing approach but it effected my stems too much and stopped filling in after trimming. So I've switched back to EI dosing and will try to use the light to tease some red from the plants...

    Aquascaper 900 - Comeback Lockdown Tank :)

I'm at that stage now. Want something to go with the wcmm and cpd's, only trouble is I want them to leave my shrimp population alone. Not easy to find a suitable fish.
  25. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

6.5 month update. I'm enjoying this scape very much, enjoying the maintenance weekly or twice weekly recently. Fish seem to be happy and plants are ticking along nicely. Anyway I received my new chihiros vivid and hanging brackets. Nice decent brackets in my opinion, seem very well made. Hung...

I have 30 wcmm in mine with 15 celestial pearl danio, I know they are all juvenile but i feel like I want to add some more. 34. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Ticking along nicely. Suffered a little with a small amount of bba on the buce and anubias, due to me having a few manic days at work and taking my eye off the ball. (co2 tank ran out) [emoji22] All the stock have settled in nicely, love the characters of the wcmm. Scalped the H'ra back quite...

Two sides of the river bed

Looking amazing @Jayefc1. Quality looking scape. Stunning growth and colours. I've cut KN03 from my ferts and not noticed any difference in plant colour. Do you think your vivid has something to do with the colours more than the ferts? Saying that my tap water supposedly provides 6.5ppm nitrate...

    Kinabalu (60 x 40 x 40)

    Scapers tank

Hey. Rescaped my 55l scapers tank recently, moved all the snails and shrimp to the 900. Started up this one as a bit of a test/chance to learn more about water, co2 and ferts etc. The tank is being run on 100% rainwater and aiming to keep a tds of around 100ppm. I'll be trying a lean dosing...

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Water change and a little thin out of the pinnatifida, found a few buce in the middle of all the stems I'd forgot I'd put there. Quite happy growing in the mess of stems [emoji4]
  40. SRP3006

    Nature's Hideout

I've found Hairgrass melts slightly when added, seems to lose its emersed growth but should show some nice green new growth at the same sort of time. I've always added ferts from the beginning so I'm not sure if dosing some ferts would help it, I'd definitely be doing daily water changes though.
  41. SRP3006

    Progression - ADA 75P - partially planted

I like the first scape, rocks look very natural and the wood 'in my opinion' looks better pointing up. Following with interest after your other scape.

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Sand siphoned out, good clean out, removed the fissidens off the stones as it attracts crud like a magnet. Little scrub of a few stones, not all of them as the otos seem to like grazing on it. The blyxa japonica seems to be doing well, growing more bushy by the day. Monte carlo is finally...
  43. SRP3006

    AS900- restart and rethink.

Full tank shots will have to wait mate [emoji6], sand needs changing as the cories have had a field day when I fed them grindal worms. Soil all over the place. Needs a tidy, didn't have a great deal of time over Christmas. Moss needs a little trim too.

Happy new year all, Stocked the tank with 30 WCMM yesterday. Never kept this species before and I'm quite pleased so far. That treatment does need a few days @Deano3 to work properly, definitely try to do the water change as soon as you can after the treatment time has passed though and probably a good idea to do a couple on the trot. I did 5 in 3 days, 80% ones. Just in case there was an ammonia spike from the...

Little update. Sand siphoned out and replaced, H'ra and pinnatifida trimmed. Gave the rocks a little scrub, removed the messy plants in the foreground. Had some Hairgrass, hydrocotyle and marsilea from the other tank that was looking really unorganised. Replaced with some blyxa japonica, that...

    A Little Slice Of Nature

I am using the same ferts and I am dosing 10ml per day, so compared to Jay's tank I am still dosing too much, I'm slowly lowering it and trying to reduce the nitrates. I had an issue with iron a little while ago but that was down to the way I mixed the salts.
  51. SRP3006

First effort - a rod for my back!

I like the wood, will look nice planted. Second what @dw1305 says about the pebbles, I think prodibio do some small rounded ones. I might be inclined to remove a little sand in the foreground, to make cleaning easier and stop algae/dirt build up against the glass.. That way you can siphon out a...

Channelling my inner Filipe - Christmas Corys

I was told they can be quite fragile after being transported, took me quite some time to find decent stock and stock that had been in the shop for more than 2 weeks.
