    Planaria, are they an issue?

Be mindful if you do dose the tank that you will need to remove all remnants of the medication from the glass and other surfaces before adding your nerites back, but I'm sure it will say that on the meds instructions.

    Planaria, are they an issue?

Just want to add that I lost all my ramshorns when I dosed the tank, as well as a few amano shrimp. Coincidence maybe but I'm not sure. I did 2 weeks of daily water changes after the course was completed so I doubt it was ammonia related. I've also not been able to put nerites back in the tank...

    Guide: DIY Shrimp/Snail/Oto Jelly Food . . .

Cracking Gareth, thank you very much, always wanted to experiment with home made foods. Great walk through 👍

    GYO - Growing leaves and botanicals . . .

I too grow raspberries, mostly for the berries granted but the shrimp are partial to the leaves I throw in. Usually stripped pretty quickly. Plant stays small too and you'll have an abundance of leaves if you remove just before yearly trimming.

    Ramshorns dying off

It's funny I've noticed the same sort of thing, I've got loads of very small ones but I can count the bigger ones on two hands. I'd even go as far as saying mine don't get as far as 1cm, I thought it was something to do with the co2 injection and the pH being below or around 7 most of the time...

Tiny white lice on rabbit snail

I can see the white blobs on the first pic but not the second. However I've never seen or kept a rabbit snail so I'm not much help I'm afraid. There's quite a few members on here that do so I'm sure someone will be along soon to help. When you say you unsuccessfully tried to remove it do you...

Tiny white lice on rabbit snail

Could you try to grab a pic of the 'lice' and maybe we can help identify it. It's not a big problem if its planaria as there are a few treatments for them, and as you think it's been introduced with the shrimp then they won't have multiplied too much. Planaria are no reflection on water quality...

Beneficial snails for the planted tank

One thing with ramshorns is I've found they stay very small, as in 5 can fit on an algae wafer, with co2 injected water, but grow quite large in non co2. Which is a bit of a pain when I come to replace my sand and its full of tiny snails.

Beneficial snails for the planted tank

I've never kept assassins but I'd probably be a little wary keeping them with any form of snail. I'm sure someone else can help but I always saw them as a solution to a snail problem if you like.

Beneficial snails for the planted tank

Ramshorns. Very good at cleaning, especially the smaller ones. Constantly grazing on biofilm and reproduce easily, but not over the top in my experience. Can get some decent looking colours too. Aren't your assassins attacking the trumpets?

    Shrimp Trap

Yea exactly that. They swim in but can't seem to find their way out again.

    Shrimp Trap

You can use a large (2l) drinks bottle, cut in half and pop the top in the bottom inverted if that makes sense. Cut the lid off the bottle about 2 inches down the neck should be OK. Don't need anything to weight it down then either, plus with the larger hole you'll catch Amanos too.

    Confused by my cherry shrimp

I fish out 30 plus from my fx6 every week when I clean it, I probably miss some to be honest as they are tiny.

    Confused by my cherry shrimp

It's funny you should say this, I was only thinking similar today about mine. Cherries have been in there about 6 months and like you say I've got plenty of babies but the 'starter' adult population has declined or are hiding. Mine are in a 400 litre with 20 harlequin rasbora and Amanos plus...

    A few shrimp questions . . .

I keep a growing population of cherry's and platys in my tank, plenty of hiding places but the two species feed along side one another, or so I have found.
