Can anyone recommend some extra long tweezers?

So because I am in nano land I got the ADA size M (21cm) tweezers and the spring scissors. Wow! Everything I plant just goes in exactly where I want it and stays there. With the scissors I can snip one single leaf without effort. Verdict: expensive but recommended.

Can anyone recommend some extra long tweezers?

So ADA tweezer owners: what size should I get for nano tank work? Do I just get L or XL (27 or 30cm) so I can reach anywhere in the tank without getting my hand wet, or will I find I have more finesse with the S or M (16 or 21cm)? Also has anyone got both ADA and Tropica/Dennerle tweezers and...

    Nano tank

OK, two weeks is good - keep us posted. I’ve ordered a 3rd party dimmer (I’ve not got the version with an app that you have) so I can slowly increase my light and find out what the ceiling is. Maybe if I go up 5%/week I can get up to full... With filtration and heating a betta is possible...

    Nano tank

For submerged plants we normally do 8 hours/day. More just encourages algae. I’ve got a 17l 25cm cube with a Betta (so low flow, which is a factor) and I’m running the same light at 25%. I turned it up to 50% and my S. Repens melted - presumably too much light. Buce and Annubias in same tank...

Is that a ONF Flat Nano on a low tech tank? If so what power are you running on?

    My first rescape

Exactly like that :) It says "Premixed 4DKH" on the bottle so it looks like they did the mixing for you already! I am not sure what would happen if you diluted that with distilled water, so I guess it just means you can aim for a deep green not a yellow green. When it runs out you can replace...

    My first rescape

I think if you stay in Tropic’s “easy” category you have a good chance - easy carpeting plants my still be tough because of the water depth - we’ll see! I’d cluster them under the brightest parts of your tank. The KH of your water isn’t important in this case. Your drop checker does not use...

    My first rescape

It's all anubias, crypts and valais! My intuition is 75w will work just fine for them, with or without CO2. Since you are using CO2 but have low light you could aim for 15ppm rather than 30 by using a 2KH drop checker solution. This article by George Farmer is very good on CO2...

I’ve ever so slightly lifted it and pivoted it to the right - what do you think? Which one do you prefer? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks, Looking again this morning I think you’re right. I can maybe shift the main rock’s top end to the right so it runs more diagonal, but not sure if that will improve? A triangle is super hard in a 20 by 20 tank!

Sand/stone only hardscapes - no soil

Yes, do that - if you are looking from the front left corner that corner will be the “beach” it will build up towards the back right in a natural sort of way.

Critique my hardscape I just can't do it...

Absolutely - that Tropica tank is a good example - there is no need to do an awesome arrangement of hardscape. Your rocks and stones could just be places to grow ferns and mosses. The extreme case is to do a Dutch aquarium, check this example out: As others said, adapt a cardboard box to be...

Critique my hardscape Messing with 10l Nano scapes

I'm still taking votes, #3 seems to be in the lead but it's not too late. #3 also won in my family WhatsApp chat. Thanks. Let me see what I can do this weekend (I put all the rocks back in the box). I'm planning to have a sandy beach at the front transitioning via some matching pebbles...

Critique my hardscape Messing with 10l Nano scapes

Isolation is getting to me so I dug out my 10l nano and my hardscape box and had a play. Any of them grab you? I’m thinking the front will actually be a sand and gravel beach once I decide what to go for... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Re: Scaping help needed please for 90cm Asian theme tank Thanks guys. Unfortunately in that orientation it won't go any further back. Also I am hard plumbed in the back right hand corner. Maybe it has a better side, try this: I like it better but it is not at all what I was planning to do...

Hi everyone, The benefit of your collective wisdom on this would be very much appreciated for my new tank. The substrate will be 2/3 Aqua Soil Malaya and 1/3 sand in the foreground with a path going back in accordance with the golden ratio. Planting will be various crypts, narrow and needle...

Aquascaping discussion - fast, slow and styles

I agree George. If you look at the history of art there have always been groups of artists who copied and influenced one another. Somtimes the copiers were just that and never amounted to much, other times they refined and improved and moved on to the next level. But if your scape brings...

Mr Amano's home tank!! (must see)

Really? I think for aqauscaping Amano's is in a different league to Tom's client (its not Tom who does the scaping). However, for sheer "Wow" factor and entertainment value the Behemoth tank is more fun (although Mr. Amano's is bigger!) Perhaps we should do a poll?

    60cm post-contest re-scape

I like that, you definetely have your own style George. Not quite nature aquarium, more a sort of post modern style on that if you like - more simplistic and abstract than the nature aquarium style, I think :?: :!: The ADA contest should be interesting this year with your postmodern scape...

Looks lovely as best we can tell  I hope your wife is as calm about that as you sound :D Just how many tropica pots of crypt wendtii 'Green' did you put in there and how many little plantlets came out of each pot? Trying to figure out how many pots I'll need for my 90cm (I'm...

    I am not happy.

In my low tech I do 50% every 1-2 weeks. But some people say changing water in low tech causes CO2 fluctuations that encourage algae. I _do_ do my change either last thing before lights out or dose Easylife Carbo and TPN+ directly after. Also I let the new water stand in a bucket for an hour...

    I am not happy.

Hi Luke, it doesn't look so bad actuallyand as Arana and Dan say, you are far from lost. I would stear clear of reflectors until you add CO2, I think your lighting is spot on for a non CO2 tank (but no more than 10 hours light/day). I've got a 25L non CO2 tank with 13W light - its roughly 1/4...

    The "retaining wall"

I'm not sure if you want the wall for terracing or its own sake or both, but another option is to build sandbags and dress them in whatever you like - substrate or stones or slate or whatever - like in this link (link from Tom in another thread in the substrates section)...
