    Harvesting your own wood

Andrew, I have used Beech Cuttings in the past, the bark is virtually none existent, it is more like a skin than bark. I've also left the leaves on. But I would not use freshly cut pieces, get the pieces you want mid Autumn or erly Winter when the leaves have gone brown. Hang them in your shed...

DIY Project Water change heater project.

Wow!:wideyed::wideyed: That is some set up mate, you have obviously gone to great lengths to solve your problem and it must have taken you ages to that kind of write up, absolutely detailed..hopefully others with better DIY skills than mine will benefit from it. Unfortunately my DIY skills are...

    Aquariums in Bedrooms?

Glad someone else got something out of this thread! I have had a quote for getting the wall between the living room and dining room removed and it will cost about £1000.00 so I am not sure I will be getting it done. The bedroom cum study might be the only option but I would have to...

    Aquariums in Bedrooms?

Hi James, I think I understood most of what you wrote apart from the bit above. One wall is an outside wall and it is that wall where I would be placing the tank. The adjacent wall however is a stud wall and on the other side of that is the shower cubicle from the on suite in the bedroom next...

    Aquariums in Bedrooms?

Hi, I want to put a tank of roughly 400 litres in a spare bedroom which is currently used as my office at home. The tank will be 1m 30cm x 65cm x 65. My question is will the floor boards hold the weight or will it go crashing through the floor into the ceiling below when I fill it up? There is...

What size and how many holes on Spraybar.

Wow that is going to be some spray bar!! I am presuming that you are manufacturing this yourself from a 6 foot piece of pipe? I am no expert mate but I would say find an Eheim or Fluval Spraybar in a shop, count the number of holes and the diameters or size of holes and replicate this all along...

Acrylic Lily Pipe With Built In Skimmer

I like the look of them, and must be tougher than glass pipes. I've broken a few glass lily pipes just cleaning them. Where is all the protein coming from, I have only heard of protein skimmers on marine tanks.

    CRISIS!!!!

Forty quid might sound like a bargain, but if it were me I would quit while you are ahead, i.e. the tank has not burst open and flooded the place. I know we can't all afford to splash out and buy expensive new stuff but we can't afford to spend all our time worrying about the tank bursting...
