Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

I'm surprised that they are Alternanthera Reinecki Mini. I've never seen them grow that big before. I've never had much success with them in the past. Those in your tank look like the Altananthera Rosafolia or the larger version of the Reinecki species. Whatever, they still look amazing. Great job.

Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

Wow that is looking great. What is the name of those Red Plants, they are doing really well and look amazing against the Green colours.

Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

Incidentally, if you do relocate the Bazooka Diffuser to the opposite end make sure you switch the drop checker to the opposite end. Your drop checker should always be dark green no matter what, and light green / dark yellow when CO2 is at its maximum saturation. If your drop checker ever turns...

Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

That is looking very very good indeed. The Bazooka Diffuser would be barely visible amongst the heavy growth you have to the right of the tank. If you really want to improve the aesthetics and remove equipment from the tank why not go for one of the inline diffusers, JBL do one, but there are...

Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

Just one observation. I see you are using the CO2 Bazooka Diffuser which is against the left wall near the bottom of your tank which is good. However look at the position of your glass Lily Pipe for your outflow. Ideally you want the water flowing towards the stream of CO2 bubbles and...

Critique my aquascape First tank, first scape

Looks excellent for a first scape so well done on achieving that. Hair and thread algae is quite normal on a new tank. Should go away on its own in a few weeks, watch the light intensity and duration early on. Add some Ottocinclus to help keep it under control. Great scape. Photo update would...

    A rescape at last

Sorry to all of the above for the very late replies. The tank is an Eheim Incpiria 400 litre tank. I have got 7 x Wild F1 Discus in there from a pair of Wild Iripixi Royals and Nhamundha Red Discus. The moss I added seems to be doing really well with low tech low light settings, no CO2 and...

    A rescape at last

To be honest that has happened in the past, but I've learned from my mistakes. So this time I have kept it very simple. Sticking with just the Cryptocoryne Ballansai and the row if slow growing Crypts along the front. I added a few bit of moss and dwarf Anubias. So far so good.

    A rescape at last

Early start this morning. Checked to see if all the wood was still anchored in place. It was so I drained the tank and started on the substrate, separating planting areas, to plain quartz fine sand areas. Some flexible wood and the wife's cake tin came in handy. Once all that was in, slowly...

    A rescape at last

Well it's been a while. But I finally decided to strip down my main tank and start again. It's taken me all day to drain the tank, remove the plants and substrate. Tank cleaned, and drained again. Now planning a simple rescape for a Discus biotope. The wood in the photos (5pieces in total) is...

    rhododendron

I realise this is a very old thread regarding the use of Rhododendron wood in an aquarium. I found this video on YouTube which sheds some light on the subject. Sounds to me like it is good to go.

What are the chances of this working out?

Hi and welcome to the UKAPS Forum, what took you so long? this is just my humble opinion but I think the piece of wood is too big for this tank and will limit your options and restrict your choices on the plants and fish you are able to choose from. If this is your first attempt at a planted...

    Obsessing over hardscape again.

You could do that but I was thinking more about the big chunky bit to the middle, when you flip the wood around you should see a natural angle to lean the wood so that the spiky bits merge with the other pieces of wood..definitely Redmoor Roots then...

    Obsessing over hardscape again.

Hi I am hardly one to talk after the messing about I have had with my hardscape but...I would be tempted to bury the chunky part of the dark piece of wood right in the right hand corner and just leave the pointed bits sticking out at an angle and merge the other pieces in with it... On another...

    Weird Wood for Aquascaping? Name?

Doh! Thanks. When I put Manzanita into Google it does not come up with what I am looking for. Does any one have any for sale or know where I can buy it from? Cheers, Steve

    Weird Wood for Aquascaping? Name?

Sorry guys just need a quick answer here. What is the name of the wood used in some aquascapes? Something like Manzanita or something like that. I am looking to buy some for a future scape. Thanks, Steve

    Here is the proof...

These two pictures are of my old tank using the same sand that you have used with the Sera Mineral Depot underneath. I have now sold this tank. I think yours looks much better, simpler and more natural. I'm jealous  Well done mate, I can't wait to see how this develops. Steve.

    Here is the proof...

Beautiful job mate, looks really natural. The sand you have used from TGM is the business. I used it on all my previous setups with Sera Mineral Depot underneath as fertilizer. What I like about the sand is that hair grass does really well in it. I have never used Saechem Purigen or anything...
