    Fan for surface agitation???

Is it possible to connect an airpump to an inline co2 reactor or would the back pressure be too much for the pump? a fan will have very minimal effect. either you have an airstone or use the filter to create surface adjitation.

Importance of having a clean tank and using CO2

Maybe its a reflection of water parameters. You might have different water out of the tap or RO to me, and that could affect the bacterial bloom? It is very interesting. Agreed, common sese is a MASSIVE part of this hobby. Its very easy to observe the tank and learn what is happening just by...

Importance of having a clean tank and using CO2

I have always water changed and filter cleaned in the same day for the last 10 years. Have never had an issue. Its extremely rare i would need to hoover the substrate though and thats where the majority of bacteria are (i believe) On my larger tanks i used to run two filters which were cleaned...

Importance of having a clean tank and using CO2

The plants wont really mind in theres a bit of detritus in the tank. What most people are trying to avoid is the potential for an algal breakout. If you can control and remove some of the detritus you will be keeping your tank parameters more stable, and thus avoiding reasons for the said...

    22l Planted Tank Co2 balance?

it will be very difficult to keep Bee shrimp in tanks that small with co2. It is possible, but fluctuations can happen so quickly its a big risk. The bigger the tank the better when it comes to more tricky inverts. i would stick with some nice fire red cherries, perhaps some small Micro...

Getting good CO2 distribution with 2 filters

co2 reactors can go on most filters. i have mine on the outlet, as it makes it easier and doesnt get clogged with all the rubbish going into the filter. a more power filter is going to chop up the bubbles better, but it depends on what you would prefer. having the 1500 with the reactor, or...

Do you just turn it on and watch them grow?

still got as good as adding an external of around 1200lph. internals cannot hold much media so the job they do is very limited in comparison. dont bother with the internal, get yourself an Ex1200. Least that way you wont see it in the tank!

    O2

so is there a piece of wonder kit you can suggest? perhaps a good surface skimmer? i have always stuck to good old spraybars and it works well, seeing as you can adjust them, you can have half of it pointing at the surface and half into the mid range of the tank. This coupled with a koralia or...

    CO2 diffuser advice needed.

i use one of them externally. so no co2 stuff in the tank :D last time i hooked it up to an Ex1200 and it worked a treat, so i will do it again.
  12. N

    which co2 diffuser is best

yeah, rip the old useless juwel filter box out and get yourself 2 Ex1200's. Its exactly what i did and its the best choice i have made. (well i have sold the tank now)

    CO2 reactor

i think the problem with buying from abroad is the price of the Euro at the mo, it kinda puts me off. if there are any decent ones in the Uk for around £50 then i would be open to suggestions. Especially as i have a 400L tank!

    splitter

just a question, can you use a standard airline valve on each 'line' so you can reduce the amount going to your 60L and have more going to your 350L, something like 1/3 and 2/3rds. Is this possible? i know algarde make them.

Cheap pressurised CO2 system DIY guide

you can manually switch it off but that means every morning playing around to get the right amount of co2 to be injected. (BPS)

is it a really small diffuser for your size of tank? if you are pumping a lot of gas through a small surface area then it will 'sing' :D
  21. N

    Deleted

i know the amount of co2 is based on plant mass, for example in my journal, when i removed a ton of vallis, i had to turn my co2 dwon a bit as i found i had too much in my tank when it switched off. Therefore, i would expect you will have to pump in more co2 for fast growing plants like...

    Smallest reg?

well let us know what turns up etc, with pics :D i cant see how the soleniod (if it has one) works, as there is no leccy cable in the pic?
  24. N

    Smallest reg?

why would you need an inline valve? - what is it? surely if it has a soleniod, you would have to plug it in to the mian electrisity, but it doesnt show any cables in the picture??? by the time you add on the postage it will be quite a lot of ££££ :?
  25. N

    Smallest reg?

    CO2 Injection Virgin

i would suggest going with the Fire extinguisher set up 1. get a Fire Ex (co2 of course) 2kg are most common but if you can fit a 5kg big boy in your cabnet, go for it. 2. Buy a reg and soleniod, i have one almost the same as this...

    help with soleniod

the bit on the rear is the bit that screws onto the FE. the only bit i can turn is the bit you see in the bottom left pic. but im pretty sure that just lets the co2 escape and as it is not connected up at the mo, its just that attached to the FE, so i dont want to waste gas, this is why im...

    Ladder or diffuser

i would use a ceramic diffuser personally, they are smaller and look 10x better. rhinox are expensive, ebay it nd you can get 2 for about £6 inc postage from HK. they work fine for me. plus you have a spare in case of breakages or i put one into bleach to clean it and use the other one.

    rhinox 5000

well i have about 3 diffusers at home and i think one of them will do the job as the ceramic plate is about the same as a rhinox 2000. well thats what i was thinking really, i dont want a whirlpool as a powerhead creates such a 'mess'. well i will have a look at the koralia 2. thanks for the...
