Hi all, New tank / cabinet and lighting is on order and im beginning to gather hardware. Having been away from the planted game im a bit out of touch. What glassware does everyone recommend for inlets and outlets. 16mm. Not looking to spend a fortune but something with decent build quality...

build the cabinet yourself mate. i did wiith my 4x2x2. works out alot cheaper and ii knoow the strength is there from useing 3 by 2 lumps of solid wood.! much thicker than the usual mdf rubbish juwel supply. i then just painted it a nice grey. or communist grey i called it!

i waggled it for a bit, until the gap at the top was about 1cm, and then just used the knife to pick away at the top blobs of silicone. once you get own of you can just start waggling it again and the other will come off then the bottom ones are easy becasue you have the leaverage. brute force...

i used some brute force on my old 120L. i used a stanley knife so slit the 2 top blobs of slicone (only slightly) and then gently rocked it back and forth, side to side, and eventually it came away. they have4 blobs of slicone holding them on, around the size of a 2p coin.

surely, by putting the hydor heater under the substrate, water flow wont push past it to spread the heat. It would be better in the water coloumn as most people have it IMO. its so small it will hardly detract from the scape.

often joists will bow slightly and over time this could cause them to weaken and crack. the initial fill up wont be a problem i dont think ad, but im not so sure 6 months donw the line. Think of the stresses lasting months and months. all it could take is 2 people standing infront of the tank...

hi guys, im soon to be using some very large rocks (30Kg or more), i was thinking of sitting them ontop of a polystyrene sheet, would this work or will the 'styrene break down in the tank? any tips on how you guys do this?

the hydor 300 needs tubing with an internal diameter of 16mm. im not sure if the tetratec filter have 16mm internal dia. someone might have to confirm. Edit: i now know that the ETH 300 should fit the EX1200

would a 3000lph turn my tank into a whirlpool? these seem the most common ones on ebay and are about £15 cheaper than the koralias. i would go for the koralia 1 @1500lph but it is too expensive for my small budget. my tank is a 1 meter long 120L rekord 120.
