    Aponogeton Madagascariensis and dark matter

A couple of things, to know about this plant(s) (=there are several varieties/species): Though being tuberous, they are really, really hungry plants. A capsule of fertilisers at the roots, at surficient intervals(as pr. instructions of ferts) often make a huge difference. Seeing the amount...

Keeping a tank spotlessly clean of algae. Particularly Diatoms and BBA

1/ We all discharge of old/unhealthy/ugly leaves, Aero (especially before photo*lol*) - partly because they're unsightly, but primarily because they do no good to neither plant or surroundings. They can even cause trouble......... All and every leaf have a "lifetime", different for different...

    Quick removal of algae

You could consider discharging all leaves (they quite easily break off the right place, if pulled "backwords") - they will most likely die off anyway in a new tank. Plants will grow happily from "bare roots", when introduced to a new tank. Some distributors actually prefere sending...

What is this almost pretty algae?

I had this in my 800 l. home tank; allmost all wood covered - very nice appearance. It's not that fast-spreading, though. This tank was direct inspiration for using Cladophora-balls, tied to wood, when designing the set-up for the two big PAH-tanks, some of UKAPS members did about 1 1/2 year ago.

    Mystery Plant in GHA

Colour say it's not the sinking form. Bright green is the floating form. It's not that much lighter than the water, so it easily get washed down with flow and get stuck in other plants or like here ; in some algae. - it will likely develop into a nice, bright green ball, covered in little...

    Mystery Plant in GHA

Just to clarify; I love Riccia for its extreeme-green appearance, and willingness to grow, too........ - it is VERY virile, nevertheless. Smallest, invisible bit will grow on. The "sinking form" that sometimes appear, is a darker green colour and even more difficult to eliminate.

    Mystery Plant in GHA

There was a reason, I put the crying smiley...............Riccia is notoriously "sneaking in". And very hard to get rid of, after !! Sometimes just THINKING about Riccia will contaminate a perfectly clean tank, I'm sure...........:nailbiting:

HELP!!! White filaments killing plants/ clouding water

Your description of look and growth, have FUNGI spelled all over it. Fungi will often appear in Dry Start set-up..........but usually they don't adapt to life under water. Yours seem to have done so, however. :( There are unbeliavably many different fungi, so ID is probaply impossible. There...

is it weird to actually like some algae?

Hold on to it, I'd say. It is quite surely a Cladophora-type...............and it's actually not quite so easy to get hold of again, if you're to loose it. You're right, it really makes a nice, soft appearance. It can/will spread (relatively nice and slowly) to other pieces of wood introduced...
