    FE EDDHA

Looks suspiciously like Myriophyllum aquaticum.......... which is on the EU list of invasive species, not alowed to trade or keep. This could explain, why you got it under the name of hornworth. To be honest, you should dispose of it (in an environmentally safe way), just on suspicion it...

    Old open tropica fertilisers

Tropica premium contain all essential nutrients minus N, P and less K. Tropica specialised is exactly same recipe plus N, P and more K. So basically first one is designed for tanks high in fish and low in plants (fish and food are supposed to provide N, P and K) and second one is designed for...

    Old open tropica fertilisers

Personally I would not worry about that. Just check for fungal attacks in each bottle.

    Old open tropica fertilisers

Problem is, the fungus may have changed composition of the fertiliser.

    Old open tropica fertilisers

Garage storing sounds ideal, really, I do this, too :-)

    Old open tropica fertilisers

If stored (relatively) cold and dark, they can be stored a really long time. Have a look for fungi, though. Though rare, this can happen and will show itself as a thin "curtain" in the fluid. In case of fungal attacks, dismiss the bottle.

Relationship between EI Dosing & TDS on the Fertilisation and Hatching rate of Discus eggs

Hi Steve - interesting/puzzling "problematics"...... Without too much comparison, I had same "problematics" a long time ago, when I first started to breed angel-fish. At that time most "strains" og angels were far less domesticated, than they are now. This called for special conditions of water...

    tropica ferts

Sorry - but now you mess things up. The amount of ferts used in "scaper-tanks" stands!! These should NOT be higher. - it's the recomended dose, written on the bottle, that is on the conservative side. It's aimed at the majority of tanks, that hold much less plants, than the ones featured here on...

Tropica Plant Grow: Specialised Vs Premium

Short answer: Tam and Iain are right on !! Green/Specialised is developed for plant heavy, low livestock aquarium. Brown/Premium is developed for aquarium high in fish, with few plants. BUT..............real world tends to be a lttle more complex, then just either/or. So quite often it is an...

    Does Tropica's Plant Nutrition+ Expire?

No, it doesn't expire - but it should not be stored very hot or in sunlight. On rare ocations fungus can develop in these older products. This can easily be seen, as a condensed "mist" or thin "threads" in the liquid. Such infected liquid should ofcourse be dismissed. Mick.

Why dose ferts daily if manufactures advise weekly?

Yep ......but "The Dragon" has promised to send fire at me, if I approach the limit (since I havent been able to find any exact guides !!!) Mick.

Why dose ferts daily if manufactures advise weekly?

Absolutely no offence taken. The question was very relevant, and no business should be above questioning. If business can't argue trustworthy fore their actions, they're bound to get into trouble......... My real problem is "balance" here, since I'm here as a hobbyist - but under (very...

    Yes he does........

Why dose ferts daily if manufactures advise weekly?

Just to clarify and finish this: Tropica does ofcourse not use the same formula of ferts, dosing production, as is sold for tanks !!! Mick.

    tropica specialised dosage

That's precisely, what I ment - way to do it  Mick.

    tropica specialised dosage

Just to give advice : you can "downscale" the amount of NPK by exchanging a percentage of total amount, to premiun fertilizer, that contains no NPK. This way not reducing others. Mick.

    tropica specialised dosage

As usual, Darren, it depends on the other facts of the tank. I have no problem doing double or triple dose of recommended - IF OTHER parameters are high too (plantmass, growthrate, light, waterchanges ...........etc.) The recommended dose is on the conservative side, aimed at tanks quite less...

new set up when to start dosing ferts

Sorry to have brought you more confusion rehman I simply missed you'd be using the E.I. principles, and wasn't aware there was a text explaining those fundamentals in such an accesable way, laying around here. I does ofcourse not disagree, since the principles are basic! Another lesson in...

new set up when to start dosing ferts

The main reason for advising you to hold back on ferts. would surely be to not run into algea problems. As long as your other parametres are under full control, you can dose from day one, ofcourse adjusting to amount of plant-mass. If you are not totally in control, however, it's guite good...
