    River/stream Iwagumi - 90P

ADA ferts dosing is pretty non-specific actually, they recommend that you start with 1 ml per 20 L per day but then say dose 2-3x as much as needed. It would be more helpful if they gave specific dose amounts of their website features like they do for CO2.

That Rotala doesn't look too bad to me but I agree that there could be an iron defiency. I have had this before but more severely and iron fixed it straight away.

    The stupid arch (AS600)

If you can backlight the wall behind the tank with a LED light strip (I use lifx z) it might help increase your depth of field. It certainly works for me anyway with a 60 p tank and similar tank lighting. My tank is also a fair few cm away from the wall.

If the wood is moving due to buoyancy well after a week or two it should no longer float.

Yeah, not going to blend nicely if tank height is 45cm or more. Mine's 36 cm tall and probably wouldn't work above that.

Anyone looking for a cheap alternative, I am using half a LIFX Z strip on the back of my tank. The I have it sitting on a strip of polystyrene which contours the back of my substrate. Works pretty well and the light spill of my Aquasky RGB creates a gradient with the light. Tank is against a...

    45L cory nano

Can't speak for Amano shrimp but Rednose Shrimp and NQ Algae Shrimp have done a lot of jumping onto my floor. Otocinclus have not dropped but will sometimes gulp air like a Corydoras. It isn't super common for Otoclincus to do this and in my experience if they keep doing it something could be wrong.

No shrimp yet as it's only set up yesterday! ADA Aquasoil = Ammonia plus still adjusting the CO2 since the drop checker is reading yellow! 300L MA store tank - First trim

Looks fantastic, I work at maidenhead brighton and yes we don't stock anything NPK but your best bet would be TMC, as we most definitely deal with them. We have a small river reef running, nothing special really but it's a nice little jungle and nothing is used on it except liquid carbon.

Hey, wouldn't know differences between the different aquariums but I'm guessing that the LED light unit is different from the other two. As for the scape, it is now the same as the last pictures while I try and save up for the rest of the equipment I require.

    "Novus Aevum" - 14ltr

Does it not come with an suction cups for the diffuser? I'll probably end up with the suction cup set anyway, although £14 is a bit steep. It is ADA though aha.

    Hey, any updates to this?
  35. L

Yeah, Ideally I would like to use CO2, unless there is a problem with using it on a small tank.
  36. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Yeah thing is I got the equipment very cheap from work so would like to make use of it. Also I want to keep CRS so want to be careful because I could overdose and kill them. Also I thought HC doesn't grow well without CO2 or anything?
  37. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

So today I added the AS Powder so the scape is finished. Still quite a bit of kit I need before I can start though, sort of along the lines of the following: Diffuser CO2 Bottle CO2 tubing and suction cups etc Tweezers, Scissors Drop Checker Ferts Plants Think that's all!

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Well after a quick look about it seems Eleocharis acicularis gets to aboute 6 or 8 inches so if I'm going to go for the long look then it probably won't require too much trimming as the tank is 9 inches tall. Does the pond stuff acclimatise ok in aquariums? Because I can get Aquafleur pots at...

Wow, that's alright then. Also one last thing, is there any specific tweezers and scissors you would recommend George? Just there's so many different ones at different prices.
  44. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Yeah I know it's my scape but I'm pretty clueless to be honest and still need to learn how to grow the plants properly. Think I will go with the hairgrass type setup as I quite like Iwagumi with a high background. Also it would suit the tank I think because of the height of it. Not sure what...
  45. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Thanks George, any ideas on plants species? I'm thinking HC for the front section at least because I need something small that won't hide the rocks too much. Going for ADA ferts and CO2 so hopefully I'll be able to grow it. Also what type of plants are best in the sloped one and vice versa...

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

So, got the other rock today at work and got home and smashed it. Here's what I've come up with, the rocks are now all taller so hopefully with a small plant like HC and low pruning I shouldn't have a problem with disappearing rocks so much. I took a couple of shots with level and sloped...

  48. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Yeah I know what you mean about a taller piece, in a tank with a height more to this scale I think it'd work really good. However what I thought is you do get lots of Iwagumi tanks with low lying rocks. For example there's George's Meadow Zephyr, where to me, the rock is about the same scale as...

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Put the powersand and normal grade aquasoil in today and I've been fiddling with scaping for a couple of hours or so. Not got very far though :P. 51. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Just broken all the rock up, eventually I ended up with a tall but thin piece that I couldn't get the chisel to smash. However I took a more direct approach but just whacking it with the mallet and had more success. Hopefully the pieces aren't too similar.
  52. L

    Nelson's 75x45x45cm optiwhite

Obvious problems are that the path is the wrong way round :P . Other than that I was also wondering if you were going to use graded gravel or something to ease the transition.
  53. L

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

I've now bought the bottom right rock in the last picture. £7.03, not bad and it's nearly 3kg I think. Going to break it up tomorrow probably, might install the substrate soon, not the powder yet obviously.

    Niall's juwel vision 180 progress

    Luke's TMC 8L Nano

Hah, not quite all my stuff. In fact add Scissors and Tweezers to the list. I'm going to be bankrupt soon, considering as I quite fancy Cal Aqua and Do Aqua gear, oh dear. california dreaming - nano 30l

Yep it's looking very nature aquarium now :). What are the dimensions of this tank because I'm getting a similar proportioned tank soon, allbeit about 3 times smaller but this gives me faith that a good scape can be made out of a cube taller than it is wide.

    Luke's Nano - Updated with Pictures 1/10/10 ~ 2 years on

New pictures, the moss is short because I cut it down at the moment, but should be long again in not too long. The plants do suffer from a bit of algae, mainly the green spot stuff, but I still think it looks nice. Obviously this isn't a touch on anything else found on this site and please...
