    JBL co2 Ph computer

i had the JBL ph controller (may be a different model) a long while back on my first planted tank. ended up ditching it for reasons people mentioned above. the unit was actually leading to my co2 levels varying way more then i needed and causing algae. the ph it is checking can be influenced by...

Some questions and doubts about new CO2 setup

One of the science boys (tom. Darrel, clive) can give you a better answer re: bubble diffusion then I can so I'll leave that to them. But in regard to new problems happening when the CO2 is added there are a few reasons for the things you mentioned. The green spot algae could be an indication...

Back flow in co2 tubing, even with non return valve

I made the mistake a few years ago of bulk buying check values from ebay. now i'm sold on quality versions. save so much hassle in the long run.

Not impressed with Pollen type diffusers

I actually switched back from my inline "tower" reactor for a couple of reasons. I found it was killing the flow rate of my filter. I also found it was making it harder for me to regulate when the co2 was on or off. Often there was a buildup which would take hours to clear through which also...

A Needle value on a needle value.

Yup, i've got this sneaky feeling it's not going to be as straight forward as i'm hoping, hence bringing it here. I'll wait for a few more replies and possibly bite the bullet and get one of the needle values from lunapets that people linked in this section a while back.

A Needle value on a needle value.

I'm actually thinking if the first one is turned down a bit the second one would allow finer adjustment due to the reduced effective working pressure of the second needle valve. Thus solving the issue of my two reducers when I cannot change the working pressure.

A Needle value on a needle value.

It's not faulty, they just don't give a fine enough adjustment. Both regs.

A Needle value on a needle value.

Hi, I've got a couple of reg's that have too high a working pressure or poor needle values that make fine adjustment a bitch. I'm pondering if I can put a second, better needle value, on to get better control? If there is no issue with that, recommendations? Thanks, John

    Reg/Solenoid from CO2 Supermarket & FE

Hi, I'm considering the regulator Solenoid from CO2 Supermarket as it seems to be a good price. Can anyone share their experiences with this bit of kit & does the thread work with FE as their site talks mostly about adapting it for use with soda stream bottles? Thanks, John

    CO2 Generators

Totally, I went that way also. Watch out for stuff in line to your filter reducing the overall flow rates. I ran a hydor heater and a CO2 reactor in line with my fluval 405 on my corner tank for 6 months before realising I'd reduced the flow to 25% of the listed about. My new setup is running...

    CO2 Generators

My friend Seb asked this question a while back, the answer came back, they are just expensive, don't produce enough CO2 and there are better ways of putting CO2 into your tank. Here is the link with the replies he got. http://www.ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=12036 Best Regards, John

    PTFE tape

Wow, excellent thread. I need to look at my washer/ring on my reg next time i switch bottle. must be knackered. RE: Gas tape. it is MUCH thicker and does not work around threads.

    220V CO2 Generator for Aquariums

lo Seb, Not read of anyone actually using on of these systems ever, probably for the reasons listed above. tbh most of us spend alot of time and effort getting kit out of our tanks not adding big bits in. Hence my recent struggles with atomisers and external diffusers. If you are going to...

    Inline diffusers??

i've actually had one of these for a bit and i'm not happy with the fizzy bottle look of my tank. going to continue with looking for an inline reactor.

    CO2 timing?

Hi, What is considered best timing for those of us who switch our CO2 off at night? 2 hours after lights on 2 hours after lights off? 1 hour? same duration as lights? Thanks, John

    Ebay Regulators

Hi, Just a report on the First Stop Aquatics kit. Works fine, no leaks, the solenoid does feel very hot but its not exploded yet. :) Beyond that my fear about the use on a nano at 1 bubble per 5 seconds was justified as it was a real bitch to fine tune. Took about an hour of tiny adjustments...

    Ebay Regulators

Hi, The firststop one is looking good. Questions - Does the solenoid make any running noise buzzing as mentioned elsewhere for other kit? Is the fine adjustment up for this being used for nano tanks ie down to 1 bubble every 5 seconds etc? Thanks, John

Jbl M603 with ph control has anyone got any experiece with o

On some specific points here... The manual is rubbish... I don't have a clue what it means when it is flashing, how often and at what screen? The general way of using it is to set the dosing limit it injects CO2 down to. On my tank, the tap water was PH 7.2, since the relationship between...

Jbl M603 with ph control has anyone got any experiece with o

Hi Linda, You sent me a PM but it seems to have deleted itself from the inbox on these forums. In the thread aaronnorth pointed out you can see i've just taken my ph controller off my jbl setup because frankly the whole thing works better without it. Plus the probe is very annoying to calibrate...

    JBL CO2/PH computer

Hi, After using this PH controller for the last year and a bit on my main tank the probe finally broke putting forward my intended removal of it from the tank. Before the controller had only been putting on the CO2 in a burst for a couple of hours a day with the drop checker showing green most...

    JBL CO2/PH computer

With my setup would the large drop in ph I use (7.2 to 6.3) be thereby beneficial to keeping the co2 constant. I.e. the ph controller only comes on and oscillates between a range of 0.5 or approx 7% of the total initial adjustment during the day. So even with the lag or lack of direct parity...

    JBL CO2/PH computer

p.s The range the CO2 comes on when it hits the targetted ph, then stays on until the ph has dropped another 0.5 of a point, so by setting your bubble rate correctly you can just maintain a constant flow most of the time.
