    Veggie Botia striata

I've got a 6 or 7 year old almost veggie Botia almorhae. I bought one to go snail hunting with no intention of keeping him long term, but he's such a character I've never been able to bring myself to part with him (same story for my 12" daily gardener plec). Apparently, loaches shouldn't be...

    Trapping Pakistani Loaches

Another method which I had recommended to me recently for moving a large plec and my loaches is to use a tube (like drainpipe for example), wait for fish to enter, then block each end and move to new home.

New Goby for my tank* edit Prolific algae eater!

Re: New Goby for my tank They're cool little fish... but I think you'd be better off getting the co2 right before adding any more livestock, as co2 will be far better for your tank than any algae crew :) The extra food doesn't help either...

    Hatchet Fish

Paul@Paul's Place! How do bud? I don't know too much about hatchetfish, but Wiki tells me there are several varieties. Genus Carnegiella (Eigenmann, 1909) Blackwinged hatchetfish, Carnegiella marthae Pygmy hatchetfish, Carnegiella myersi Dwarf hatchetfish...

    Sparkling gouramis and Hara Jerdonis

Hara Jerdonis get to about 1.5" apparently, but mine is still around 1" or less. I don't see mine too often as they are a very private fish.. I've been told they will hunt fry and shrimplets. They prefer well oxygenated waters too.

    Fish ID

That's what I was confused with, Sam... But yup, these guys have the white markings. Far from being aggressive, George. The big one (who lived outside) is the leader of the tank and does have a favourite spot which he protects in a friendly manner. I only have 4 so I don't see individual...

    Cherry Barbs & Stock Levels

That would up my tank count to 7, and I'm trying to cut it back to 3  Thanks guys :) Aaron, I'm not sure - about 80% or more of the plants came from Clive early last year... There are more stones throughout the tank, but are now covered by plants... the front ones would have been too...

    Cherry Barbs & Stock Levels

Re: Cherry Barbs Yeah, neons are butt-ugly fish anyway. I only took them to save them from being flushed  You think I'll be ok for a couple of months? I working on getting a bigger tank for everyone, but cash is tight right now...

    Cherry Barbs & Stock Levels

Re: Cherry Barbs I don't think I've ever posted pics of this tank, so here's a couple  Its not the tidiest of tanks, but I love it... just wish it was slightly bigger.

    Fish ID

This little guy lived outside in a bucket, in the middle of winter for about 3 weeks before my wife spotted it - he had hid inside a small hole in some driftwood... when we brought him back in he was completely white and could barely swim. Within a few days he'd recovered and now 3 years later...

    Cherry Barbs & Stock Levels

Re: Cherry Barbs Thanks guys... the size is worrying me a little now, so I'll look at rehousing them in the future... What would you say is a minimum size tank for 10 fully grown on their own? They're lovely fish and I'd like to keep them if possible.

    Cherry Barbs & Stock Levels

I got given 10 or so of these the other day, not knowing what they are, along with a small plec and a few neons... it was a take them or they get flushed deal. At the moment the barbs are tiny and very peaceful in my 150 litre with a load of various tetras, a large plec, a yoyo loach, a couple...

    50 of what tetra?

My silvertip's are nasty little buggers  By far the most agro fish I have  I wouldn't mind 50 priscilla tetra's - I've about 12 atm, and they really stand out in the crowd.

    Recomendations on snail munching fish??

I heard yo-yo loaches are good, but mine doesn't touch them. Best way I found to control snails is to cut back on feeding and make sure any dead plants/leaves are removed asap.

    Actual Shoalers

Fully agree with that. I bought 12 the other day and have only seen them once since putting them in the tank  When they did come out they all stayed within a few cm's of each other and looked great.

    Fish ID help

Yeah, my pics don't really do them justice, they're stunning little fish. I also got 12 ember tetras which I'm thinking of adding to my shrimp tank... they were kept in a bare CRS breeding tank and left the shrimplets alone. Not sure what they'll be like after a couple of weeks settled in...

    best shoaling

My priscilla tetras shoal quite nice, but they aren't the most colourful fish.. The only other fish I've had shoal is a yo-yo loach and a panda cory  They love each others company and often get in to mischief with the large plec, stealing his food and digging up his 'bed'
