    picture backgrounds

I haven't used the Gimp in over ten years, and in Photoshop there must be hundreds of different ways of doing this, but by far the easiest is to simply increase the canvas size, selecting black or white as the fill colour. Job done :)

  40. J

    Who needs plants, anyway!?

I agree to some extent, but only because I have a small house and would rather have a planted tank. I'd love something like this in the office though.
  41. J

How do you take full tank shots?

Cloth, paper, whatever really. The light can go behind this, or in front of it. I remember George playing about with this on his first nano way back when. Doesn't show it here though..
  51. J

How do you take full tank shots?

:? This is why I shoot FTS on Auto  The 5700 is a clever little bugger. You can view the pictures properties to see what settings were automatically used, and play about with them from there. Try turning the macro on to sharpen things up a little too. Works well for me.

Fujifilm Finepix S5800 - buying an SLR camera

    They were mostly Auto :)
  53. J

Fujifilm Finepix S5800 - buying an SLR camera

The S5800 uses the same sensor as the S5700, and because of the extra 1 million pixel, pictures tend to look a little more blurred from the S5800.
  54. J

Fujifilm Finepix S5800 - buying an SLR camera

I've got the S5700 which some say is slightly better than the newer S5800. I wouldn't change it for the world right now. Its a great camera for the price, and the results are fab.

    New FinePix S5700 [Amature]

I just shoot on Auto :D I use Macro and Super Macro a lot too. You can do as Aaron has said, half click the shutter button to get focus, but you can also then pan slightly to the left or right and click fully, so your focus point is offset. My pics only come alive after some small edits in...

    Fuji Finepix S5700

Forgot, Dixons closed down near here, and after advice on the F1 forum I visit, I decided to go for the S5700. The extra 1mp apparently causes more noise as it uses the same sensor. :? Happy so far :D Now I've got to figure out how to use it other than point and click and hope
  82. J

    Fuji Finepix S5700

Cool, thanks :D Dixons have the S5800 @ £101, so I might take a look at it tomorrow :D

Are these any good? I'm not really in to photography much, so I'm not going nuts getting an SLR, I just want something decent with a good lens and zoom...
