    Aquatics live cancelled.

I thought the idea of forums was to offer contstructive criticism. If I were to post on someone's journal and say that "for me the aquascape is pretty lame" I would expect them to somewhat offended, as a comment of this nature offers little or no help. It might be worth mentioning that myself...

    Aquatics live cancelled.

Thank you Luis, I’m sure that Myself, George and any other contributors to PFK magazine that post here will find your comments very encouraging. If you have any suggestions for ways in which we could make the magazine less lame please feel free to share them with us, as your opinion is very...

    Aquatics live cancelled.

I'm gutted that its cancelled, i've really enjoyed meeting up with the UKaps members that attend, and will sorely miss the opportunity to do so. I'd like to echoe what george said, PFK have done everything they could to support the show, and i'm sure they would continue to do so, were the show...

Aquascaping article on Daily Mail site

Thanks for posting this Voo. I'm chuffed the feature was published :D , I was contacted by a press agencey in mid december but did not expect anything to come of it. Anything placed in the public eye is open to critism and I welcome comments of any nature I find negative comments can be...

What aquascaping tools do you use and why?

I keep mine pretty sharp too, they definately cut rather than tear the stems. However they do flatten the end of the stem a bit, this is not necessarily a critism, perhaps this will prevent so much of the plant's sugars and ammonia leaching into the water after pruning. I've no idea if this is...

What aquascaping tools do you use and why?

I use JBL scissors and ADA tweezers. Does anyone know if the rule is "the sharper the better" where scissors are concerned, or can they be too sharp? Also i notice that the thick blades of the JBL scissors squash the cut stems a little, I wonder if this is a good thing or not. Cheers, James

    water change during photoperiod!

In my 20 litre tank (which recieves a 35% water change each day) changing the water before the photoperiod has definately reduced algae issues. Perhaps, in larger tanks where water is changed only once a week, the benefits are less pronounced. Cheers, James

Environmental Impact of the Planted Tank?

That's an interesting point about the effects of excessive tap water use, as it actualy impacts directly back on the hobby. Water treatment plants are not that effective at removing nitrate, infact the bio sand filters used work via the nitrogen cycle much the same as our aqurium filters, and...

AGA 2009 Results - XL Category Winner

Re: AGA Results Hi Rufus You make some interesting points, I think you are right the winning tank is not a true depiction of nature. I am a fan of nature aquariums myself, however, IMO an aquascape does not have to be based on a natural model in order to be aestheticaly pleasing. I'm sure some...

    Viktor in PFK

Great interview Viktor i enjoyed it thoroughly. Coincidently, that makes 2 Ukaps members with Mini M size tanks in consecutive issues of PFK :D Cheers, James

    D-D nano cube, lighting question

Is there any way you can raise the lamps to a greater height above the tank. Raising the lamps just 6 inches will considerably reduce the intensity of the light that reaches the plants. Cheers James

    IAPLC 2009 results (text only)

A big well done to everyone. Particularly to Andrew and Peter, who if I understand correctly will make the ADA book this year. Also to George with a very respectable placement indeed. Not forgetting Aaron who beat Jason Baliban by 2 places, an amazing acheivement at 15 years old Cheers James
