    Recommendations for TMC signature tank

When you say the hanging bar, do you mean this? These light cost around £120 - 130 for the full set up, IMO a real bargain. These lights are my fave of all the TMC lighting. The colour rendition is really crisp.

I've not used them, but have seen them in action. They are really really bright, I don't know how they are par wise though. They have some nice colour renditions as well. The 8000k would be great.

    12000k T8's

White reflectors are the best ime. This is what most company's use in their luminaries. As for the kelvin ratings, it really doesn't matter IMO/ime. Although 12,000 k would look a little odd over a planted tank, if that what you eyes like them go ahead. I personally wouldn't take too much...

ADA Solar I vs TMC 1500 Ultima

The reds actually look better under the tile...that surprises me to see that. I'm gonna like the tile more as I have one, but it certainly balances the colours better in my eyes. It's interesting regarding the par measurements!

Are my TMC grobeams giving me too much light?

I had the 500's over my 125ltr and had no problems at all growing anything. I did run c02 though. The par on the 600s is supposedly better than the 500s and going by the tiles I would edge my bets that they are a stronger light than the 500s. I ran mine at 100% all the time, with just a half...

It won't fit with the mountray brackets. They are to long fit with brackets alone.
  24. Ian Holdich

    Grobeam 600

Yes they can be mounted on the brackets, but they won't fit the tank in question with the mountray brackets. I know this, I leant the hard way and had to shell out for a new tile.

    Grobeam 600

You need the mms rails to attatch the hanging peice with these lights I'm affraid.
  26. Ian Holdich

    Grobeam 600

A wall bracket? They can be suspended using the mms rails. They just can't be used with the mountray brackets.

    Spectrum...doesn't matter...does it?

It would be interesting to get some backgrounds on the authors. A lot of these papers also seem to be quite old, I know that doesn't change the way plants photosynthesise, but advances in research techniques do improve. That said, it is an interesting read, but we could do with another up to...

I'm also in the same camp as George. I haven't got the means to stringent scientific testing, however anecdotal evidence in this hobby goes along way (as long you know what you're doing). Kelvin is but a colour choice. Clive made an excellent post a couple of years back regarding kelvins. Ill find it later to save him from having to write it out again. Remember people, marketing blurb is what you will read regarding spectrums and lumens. Don't believe the hype!

That's the thing, people will often say they notice a drop in brightness with there own eyes...again this isn't humanly possible when it comes to energy emitted from the bulb. I wish it was possible as it would save a lot of these discussions to whether lumens and k ratings make plants grow better.

It's really surprised me that these don't use high output LEDS, it's also surprised me that they don't have a dim function, not that you'd really need them, but you would want to use an LED for what an LED is.
