Hey mate, started up a wee 60 in my new living room. It’s more of a jungle than a scape tbh, you honestly don’t realise what you forget when you’ve been out of the hobby for a while! Taking it steady with easy plants.

Got a 60 litre up and running at the moment, it’s only been going about 4 weeks. Nothing special, was going to keep it as a low tech, internal filter etc…but you know how these things go, c02 installed yesterday, internal ripped out and external fitted. Will get some pics up later x

Hey peeps, the set up has been running for a week now. Took out the ugly internal filter and replaced with a Ehiem 130 eco pro. I have gone with easy peezy plants to begin with as it’s been so long and I have literally forgot everything!

The tanks arrived, as said I have done it on the cheaper side, so no ADA and the likes. Here’s a quick pic

I was what I'd call lucky with this scape. It didn't get any algae, but the plant mass was so high, I'm not sure it would've stood a chance anyway. I did use 100% pure ro water also, with I think may of made a different, that alone with lean dosing and the soil made it perfect growing...

Sorry for the late reply Ali, they are about 12cm from the top of the tank. The tank is still going....the aponogeton is setting off flower right left and centre. They look beautiful as well.

This hasn't been touched (literally) for 2 weeks, not been dosed, no water change, just topped up. It's at that stage... I think I'll be setting up the new tank tomorrow, I have some great twisted vine, and a new 60p to stick it in. Plant wise, I reckon I can salvage a load out of this...

The flow works like this... Pic courtesy of Starr-Marshall That should be enough in the way of flow for you. Have a look at the amano vids on youtube. You actually don't need loads of flow, you just need it to go in the directions you need. And the stem is ludwigia glandulosa, just waiting...

I agree mate, Luis did some awesome jungles and placed quite well in the iaplc with some of his jungles. It's a pity there isn't more. Was checking out some on our Facebook page and that one Tony Swinney did was awesome! Might be worth dropping TMC a email, I was told a couple of weeks ago...

Hi, I think you're gonna need to up the water changes at the start of you set up. Ten percent a week really isn't enough to get rid of all the remaining nasties IMO. Dosing once a week, isn't a good idea when pumping c02 into your tank. The Damond's on the plants become a little more when you're...

Never used it, was going to use it in the 1-2 grow tank, but got sent riccia instead! I want to give it a go in the future though.

Apparently it really doesn't like ammonia in the soil. If it does die off, just get some more in a few weeks. I love the stuff!

I might just enter this into the iaplc this year...just for a laugh, and name it old school. It needs a couple more months.

Stick with the hairgrass mate, I find it tends to get a little pale before going bright green. It then goes mental!

Wood for me, it'll make more of a true NA, if that's what you want. Looking at the rock scape, there's not much room for planting. I'm not sure you'd get the 'less' demanding plants in there. Both really good hardscapes though!

Just be aware that the TMC is a manual dimmer, which isn't a problem, but if you're getting to much light, then at least you can dim the lighting.

I'm glad you're not giving up, and you'll find new challenges in a larger tank. I agree with Sam, if you want and ada or do aqua, then get the do aqua, and then you can get some more stuff with the money saved. Good luck with it, and i can't wait to see it started, as I'm sure it'll be a success.

The reds are ok, they don't stand out like the greens, it's quite difficult to actually get a colour that's beneficial to both colours I've found. These are supposed to be 6500k, they look more 7000-7500 k, to me.

The tank is 60x45x30. The led bar is 50 cms long. I reckon you'd get away with one. I'll get some pics up later.

Just to add, I've set these lights up this morning and the colour rendition is quite something. It's such a crisp looking led, very impressed.
