Unusual Cory deaths: hari kari by sponge filter

Hi Folks Sad to hear about those deaths! Sponge insert isn't really the answer as it will clog up eventually. I know there is some members have 3D printing, maybe they could print a cover to fit over the outlet pipe, you would need to ask in the Wanted Forum...

Lost my pygmy corydoras after a water change

50% water change in the morning. 1.5ml for 10l. Seachem Prime should be dosed at 1.25ml per 50 Litres......if you did a 50% water change that water being 50% RO. That would mean you have added 5 litres of Tap water dosing 1.5ml Seachem Prime. That could possibly be the answer.....doing the...

    Long post regarding my tank

Hi Polly This would be my plan of action...if you are going to move the aquarium! Remove the white sand, it is just a reflector for your lighting causing algae, add black sand or grey. Reduce the lighting to 7 hours per day at a new start-up or when implementing a change. Water lettuce covers...

    Five banded barbs

Hi Could be stress related? Reduce the flow and lighting if you can. I would stop the Liquid Carbon, for the time being..... the aquarium looks as though it needs more plant mass and surface cover!!! You could try using fast-growing stem plants as extra surface cover.

Hypoxic fish but only after the waterchange?

Hi There are a few theories on fish reacting badly to large water changes! The new fish purchased from the local fish store may not be acclimatised to their new environment yet. There is a lot of compressed Co2 in tap water which could increase the dissolved Co2 in the aquarium to an...

    Cory breeding!

I don't think you can distinguish between the Male and Female gender at the juvenile stage! I could be wrong though.....Tetras will eat eggs and young fry if given the opportunity! If you have a very heavily planted tank, the offspring may have a higher percentage to surviving to adulthood...
  50. GHNelson
