I used two 9L bags in the tank, from what I managed to save by rinsing and sivving I would say it was a complete bag that turned to mud so seems highly likely that one of the two bags was dodgy. This is what I saved.

Had to have it out the tank I just couldn't stand it anymore.

I'll be sticking with Aquasabi from now on all being well with deliveries next week, their service so far has been excellent.

Glad it's not my local tbh lol I was told it's not Amazonia more like Malaya amongst other things..... It is 100% Amazonia.

The green machine, I have a couple of big orders in with Aquasabi so have ordered some from there to replace it.

Hopefully I'll have a decent reply from ADA with an explanation so I can avoid it happening again if it is something I've done to cause it.

I wasn't going to go into any other details of my personal opinion of their attitude but I won't be using them again so it wouldn't surprise me if it is just an excuse. I'll replace it and contact ADA to see what they say, might just be an expensive learning curve.

Well I've been told by the retailer it has happened because it was wet while 're used.... kind of makes sense but still very disappointing for such a costly product. Does that seem right to anyone?

Hi guys, My ADA aqua soil Amazonian has turned to literally nothing and it's only been in the tank 5/6 weeks! I had a 're scape and it's mostly turned to literally microscopic particles? Is this normal? Surely it shouldn't do that? How does anyone 're use it if that happens especially...

I rinsed mine 3 times, less than I would normally do on coral sand or pea gravel. Because of what it is you can rinse it for ever and you will still get the same dust coming off it.

No reason it could not be used in any kind of freshwater set up that I know of.

No idea about others but I have 2" at the front sloped up to 4" at the back, I have had no problem getting plants to hold either when planted with giant tweezers and pushed right down.

Most garden centers are selling John Inns No3 at full price for £4.99 30L ;)

Same as you would gravel/sand, just stir it up every now and again and net out what you can then let the filter do the rest.

Cat litter from tesco would of cost £12 and saved you £20........the perfume is really not that bad and nothing to warrant it not being used imo.

I am thinking of making some serious banks in the main tank up to I guess about 15" high. What would be the best way to do it to keep the risk of them turning anaerobic and toxic as low as possible? Could I use bricks or concrete blocks to take up the void and put the substrate ( cat litter )...

This is exactly as you plan, cat litter and bog wood, I put x6 Cardinal Tetra in 24hrs ago and have diy co2 running now so looking a bit greener than this. IMO nothing wrong with cat litter in the slightest, best thing since sliced bread if you ask me.

Just rinse well 5 times and that will do, that is what I did and now have plenty of fish in the main tank now all happy with it.

I gave my cat litter a 5 rinse rule to stop myself being there for hours, just used a bucket from b&q and put half a bag in each time and rinsed well 5 times. Tank is still cycling but everything seems fine so far, I also only have cat litter and bog wood although in 50L.

24hrs on and the tank is crystal clear, also un-capped.

Gave it a few rinses and just chucked it in then filled slowly, a bit hazy now but sure it will clear in no time. It is only really a shrimp tank and think as long as there in minimal disturbance to it it should be fine and not cloud the water once settled.
