    Spotless water...help me understand

Also, if UKAPS members are signing up for Spotless Water, help each other out and get those referral bonuses! This is how I got on board thanks to @MrClockOff and I haven't paid for any RO water since my initial balance loading of £20 in February 2022.

    Spotless water...help me understand

I can give you some actual first hand experience since I use Spotless Water. You can use it as it is and remineralise it with something like Salty Shrimp. They have remineralisers for increasing only KH or both GH and KH. You could take your pick depending on the parameters you'd like to...

How to adjust GH when topping off? I'm confused!

In fairness I didn't inspect them that well, I just noticed the deaths but I will keep an eye out if I notice it again in the new setup. Sorry I worded this weirdly. What I meant was how do I bring the GH back up using top offs. Probably the most likely solution! I have the Salty Shrimp GH+...

How to adjust GH when topping off? I'm confused!

That's just it, I wasn't doing water changes, only top offs with RO water. I was treating that tank more like a pond than an aquarium since around 70% of the volume was pure plant mass. Once topped off the KH always measured 2 but the GH is what would fall over time. I was adding fertiliser...

How to adjust GH when topping off? I'm confused!

Hey everyone, I have a query that I couldn't find an answer for from the search. For the last 6 months I have been keeping a mixed shrimp colony of Neocaridina and Caridina, both happy and breeding. I recently moved them to a slightly bigger, botanical method tank but towards the end of their...

    Water report

Hey Lee, I would suggest getting some kind of test kit otherwise it's just a guessing game. You need to eliminate things that it isn't at least. In terms of the hardness of your water, I wouldn't be concerned. I have kept/currently keep all of the above species in much harder water than that...

    Spotless Water

Out of curiosity, what's the reason for wanting to remove Boron?

    Spotless Water

I've used Spotless for the last 5 months now without any issues, but maybe a good point that I should check the water myself too. I like it because it's cheap (around £2.50 for 60L or something to that effect). I don't change much water when I do so an RO unit isn't worth it.

    Rain water questions

I live in London also and use rainwater for various things but only recently for an aquarium. KH 3 GH 3 TDS 30~ I sometimes spot live food in there too. One thing I should note is that that water butt isn't from surface run off. It'll be interesting to see what the parameters might be with a...

    Nitrites never zero

Just curious why you want zero nitrates?

    High nitrate

This is an interesting read in regards to the Purigen. I only used it for the first time in the last month and honestly... I haven't noticed any difference. In my nano tank, the quantity I added is well overkill and it does nothing for my nitrates or my water clarity. Everything is the same. In...

    Water change temperature

I normally go 1-2c cooler. On the rare occasion my tap plays ball I can get a steady temperature that matches the tank water. Otherwise, I've worked out the ratio of warm and cold water I need to add to reach the desired temperature.
