Medium Energy? - Running a low level of CO2...

It does! It's been a good 6 years but it's time to go Hi Tom, that's great! May I ask what your lighting setup/period/intensity is? It seems like the unit is suspended quite high.

Medium Energy? - Running a low level of CO2...

Sounds ideal! Yeah I will be using mostly epiphytes and cryptocoryne but the types that need higher light like spiralis red, tiger, flamingo etc

I think this is the UKAPS spirit! 😅

Medium Energy? - Running a low level of CO2...

Hi guys, I know this has probably been asked to death but I can't seem to find a definitive thread about it. I'm planning to rescape my 120cm and 60cm tanks and I wondered if I could run them with a lower level of CO2... maybe 15ppm? The reason behind this is 1. To save on refills, 2. I've...

    Thanks, I'll keep an eye!

    pH drop meeting resistance...

You can see what the graph looks like now that CO2 output has been increased. The 1.0 drop is being achieved, the drop checker is light green and the pH is stable from lights on 16:00-22:00.

    Increase C02 Ciculation

What size is that tank? I'm just wondering if you've considered running an inline diffuser instead of an in-tank one?

    pH drop meeting resistance...

One thing I overlooked is that I also recently increased my surface agitation and didn't adjust the CO2 to account for this. I've increased the output slightly and of course, the pH is dropping to adequate levels. I'll keep monitoring it since I find CO2 balancing takes a while.

    pH drop meeting resistance...

Ok yeah I understand what you mean now. That would lead to excessive CO2 levels by the end of the week. If it's never reaching the set point however, I imagine the CO2 levels would be roughly the same every day? Since the CO2 is just turning on at say 2pm and turning off at 9pm with no...

    pH drop meeting resistance...

Yeah it seems like in this scape it will be useful for monitoring the pH but not controlling the CO2 since the KH is fluctuating. I think this is due to the type of rocks I'm using that are influencing the water chemistry. Conversely, I have the same controller fitted to a 350L tank which only...

    pH drop meeting resistance...

Do you think I should just keep pumping the CO2 throughout the light period? That's what's currently happening anyway since the pH target is never being met, and therefore the valve never closes.
  12. Courtneybst

    pH drop meeting resistance...

Yes the Intaqo controller starts and stops the CO2 based on pH measurements. Is there a KH test you recommend?

    My pH profiling experience

I just noticed your post and realised we have almost identical problems! I'll be following to see if you reach resolution.

    pH drop meeting resistance...

Hey everyone, So after installing an Intaqo controller on my tank, it's provided me with some interesting data that I would have been none the wiser to. My CO2 comes on 3 hours before the lights to try and achieve a 1 pH drop (or as close to). However, I've noticed that as the days progress...

    CO2 Reactor UK sellers?

@LondonDragon Was it easy to setup? I'm thinking to get one but I have no idea how and can't see any videos on YouTube, unless I'm searching for the wrong thing?

    CO2 bottles

I thought it was just me! I've noticed this on my large tank, I thought I was going crazy. I even filmed 2 videos as a comparison. Without touching the needle valve at one point in the day the bubble rate was countable and then later on the day it was uncountable. I'm glad I'm not going crazy lol.

    Twinstar Neo diffuser working pressure

Hey, I have the exact same diffuser as you (well actually it might be different because there's the old design and new design now). I have my working pressure set to 40psi and the bubbles seem fine enough and the plants are happy. Maybe it could be finer but I have nothing to compare it to...

    CO2 Running Out?

On this tank my CO2 is on for 7 hours a day, and yes the bottle not being full to begin with is a possibility. When I went to exchange it today the guy said that to put it simply it's not the best type of FE. He went into more detail but in essence I think I got a cheapo. Will see what happens...

    CO2 Running Out?

When I listen closely I can hear a hissing/almost micro bubbling noise from the in-line diffuser. It sounds like this (the link plays from a timestamp as there's multiple sounds): Is that not normal? I saw some people said their in-line diffusers make noises like this and it was the sound of...

    CO2 Running Out?

Thanks guys! It's a good thing I actually ordered the new bottle already (before I knew it was running out). I'll check for leaks when I fit the new bottle and make sure everything is tight because when I set it up I could hear a slight hissing sound but couldn't find any leaks at all. As...

    CO2 Running Out?

Hi guys, would this be the right time to change the CO2 bottle? Or can it go lower? Also I'm wondering if I have a leak of some kind. This 2kg bottle was only temporary until I got my 5kg bottle but it's only lasted 23 days on a 350L 3-4 bps. Is that about right? I thought it'd last at least 6...

Scrapping the inline and going for NEO Diffuser

I saw someone mention this on another post too. It's my understanding that the chamber is supposed to be filled with water as it's in the outflow of your filter. The diffuser is just adding the CO2 along the way. If water didn't fill it the water wouldn't come out the hose. Glad you resolved it...

Scrapping the inline and going for NEO Diffuser

You might have already but have you checked for leaks? The rate should remain constant day to day.

    Co2 equipment

I think the CO2 art Pro SE regulator is worth the investment as you can use it on your small tank or your big tank. Whereas if you invest in a nano kit you can't upscale, plus the issues you've mentioned about control.

    Aquario Neo CO2 Diffuser Special

Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows where to get the special version of this diffuser? It's an updated design with hardly any u-bend in the acrylic and a wider ceramic disc. I've looked online but all the UK sellers seem to be selling the old model. Anyone got one or know where to get...

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

I think it's definitely possible if other parameters are in check. The reason I even thought about it was because I watched a video from MD fishtanks where he set up a large 4ft aquarium with the intention of it being low energy. He put a tiny Fluval 88g CO2 system in it until the plants got...

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

I hope in 20 years time we'll laugh at these posts trying to use pressurised canisters for CO2 injection and instead there'll be a little contraption that just pulls in CO2 from the air into your tank!

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

Haha thank you, I'll definitely be planting heavy again. I think ultimately I will go with CO2 in the long run and I'll echo your words in my brain as I'm setting it up.

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

Oh yeah for sure I was dosing way more than I needed back then. I now only dose 1/3 of the EI and I've turned one of my T5 units off so the lighting is essentially 50%. I'm definitely noticing A LOT less algae growth. This scape is literally waiting to be torn down as soon as plant deliveries...

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

This is an interesting point and something I definitely didn't consider! Another point on the liquid carbon side of things; In my old scape I used liquid carbon at double strength and I actually had pretty good growth and a full lush carpet. It's hard to tell if it worked because I was adding...

    Providing 'just enough' CO2

Hey guys, I've been thinking a lot recently about getting a pressurised CO2 system and was wondering if it's possible to provide just enough CO2 so the plants are healthy and not melting back? My thought process is that I want the plants to be healthy but I don't want to constantly trimming...
