Just throwing in my 2c, I would recommend using RO or very low TDS rainwater for top ups because topping up with water that has mineral content will increase your TDS (and possibly KH/GH depending on the source).

It's not something you need to remove. You add the dose of Panacur and you'll notice results within 24 hours. Usually after a couple of days the hydra will be all gone. I have no idea why people are dosing multiple times in a week, unless their tanks are plastered with hydra lol.

Anytime I've had hydra I did one dose and that was enough. In fact I just did a dose yesterday on my new tank.

I think I read somewhere this can occur through some kind of osmotic shock if parameters are changing too fast (e.g. water changes). I was facing this issue and started doing my water changes more slowly and never had the problem since. That's the only thing I changed. Give that a go maybe...

Hey Nathan, I think you could class those as Sakura. They look similar to mine, although mine don't have the orangey stripe but I know what you mean. But take a look at this image, you can see them better in person so will know more accurately.

Apologies Idris, I don't mean to hijack the thread but @jamila169 when roughly do the sexual dimorphisms become apparent? It's been a few years since I've bred cherry shrimp and my recent shrimplets look all male, kept them at 23c almost exactly. They are only 4 weeks old though.

I'm also thinking about ramshorns now after the good reviews from others. I used to have Nerites but I couldn't stand the little white eggs being laid everywher. They're not easy to remove either!
