I’m wondering if a Microscope would be helpful in identifying House Plant pests. I’ve put it in the section as taking screen shots would be part of the process. I’d ideally like something that works with an iPad or an iMac. Anyone used anything like this? I’m not sure what level of...
I used to work in Kew many years ago. At one time it was free to go in so I sometimes lunched with workmates there in the summer.
When the 2p entrance fee was introduced it still remained a nice lunchtime break. How much is it to get in now. Are the fish tanks still in the Princess of Wales...
I did wonder about supplementary lenses for iPads/iPhone. I’ll have to have a look and see what’s out there. In the meantime I must try out my wife’s compact and see how that does.
I take quite a lot of pictures with my iPad ever since I bought my first one over eight years ago. The only problem with my current iPad Pro 10.5” is that it’s no good for very close objects due to focusing distance. I decided that I’d get my 16Mp DSLR out with 90mm macro lens and the results...
I’m sure I’ve seen something like you’re suggesting before Andrew and it looked ok to me. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and give it a try.
The best thing to do Kris is look at a few online reviews like this one:

Seems pretty good but I'd have a look at a couple more reviews to be sure.
I've got a DSLR and picture quality is very good but it's too bulky to take everywhere so it gets left behind a lot.
A Professional Photographer once said " The best camera is the one you have with you at the time"
Re: canon 350d ?????????
It's the same mount so yes they do fit! If the lens has been designed for smaller sensors though the image won't cover the whole sensor.
Re: canon 350d ?????????
Yes, the lens mount is the same across the Canon range so if you change bodies any lenses you buy will fit. Lens choice depends on the type of pictures you want to take. Wide angle for landscapes (and Aquariums :D ) Telephoto for taking photos of wild birds for example.
He's not wrong, you'll see a big difference if you can afford a DSLR. I'm not a great fan of Canon or Nikon these days but you can't argue with the value for money on their entry level DSLR's. If you buy another lens I'd go with something wide angle as it would be good not only for taking...
Yes, it can be a bit confusing these days. It never used to be a problem until camera makers started making digital cameras with "crop" sensors!
I remember these, although never used one myself. Picture angle of 220°

No guesses on the tank size but isn't 15mm on a full frame normally a fisheye. Or put another way shouldn't the image be round or have you doctored it. I'm aware you can use Lightroom for example to produce rectilinear images from a fisheye lens.
If you really want high quality you need one of these:

And then maybe scan your rather large pieces of film with one of these:

I suspect it will be very many years before DSLR's come...
Yes, LightRoom is good for lens correction and although not every lens has been profiled the list continues to grow. Not sure if it was done in LR but I've seen rectilinear shots taken with a fisheye that looked pretty good!
