    Ember Tetra turned blue (ill)

I've had my Embers for over 2 years now. I have only ever lost one as it got stuck behind the filter. [emoji20] I keep mine in re-min RO.

    Acclimatising to CO2?

I think they do need to adapt. IIRC Clive wrote about leaving fish in the bags from transport to help with the acclimation process. The CO2 levels would build within the bag (also dropping the pH and turning ammonia into ammonium) and the fish would be slowly introduced to higher CO2 levels...

I think I did something really stupid....

When I used tap water I would always mix hot and cold to get the right temperature. It was from a gas boiler so no issues.

I think I did something really stupid....

Achilles where are you based? I would say dechlorinator is a must. Any idea how cold the water was. In winter our cold water can be 8/9 degrees so quite a drop from a 25 degree tank.

    Hiding Fish

I can't add anything but to say I absolutely agree with Darrel. A lot of aquascapes look stunning but are not always an ideal home for the fish they house.

Where to get Fighting fish from

I don't think they are still operating. One of the people attached to that was always posting on PFK but he has not been around for a while.

    Betta Face-off

Enjoyed it? Not at all! Nice pics but I would not put two male Bettas together for the sake of it. :(

    Best fish euthanasia method

Nathan Hill over at PFK did an article on this - Painful fish deaths? You might be guilty… | Blog | Practical Fishkeeping

    Clown loach deaths ?

I am not sure how accurate the whole toxic Anubias is. It was being bandied around a lot with regards to shrimp death but I think the general consensus from those that keep shrimp with Anubias (such as myself) is that it does not harm shrimp. One guy even blended a few plants and put it into his...

    over priced fish...

Your just in the wrong country. I think there was someone from Thailand over on PFK who said 100 Neons (may have been Cardinals) cost about £2 over there!

    over priced fish...

Whenever you shop at Rare Aquatics the fish are typically going to be expensive. The clue is in the name of the shop. :) Are fish over-priced? It is difficult to answer. In general if fish were more expensive then people may take more notice of their proper care requirements as losing them...

    Shoaling fish in hard water

pH does not seem to be a big factor for most fish even though it is always quoted. Perhaps your hardness will be ok as it is just at the top of their range. It would be nice to see schooling behaviour regularly but it really is mostly a defensive measure.

    Shoaling fish in hard water

I don't think Rams will tolerate the hard water. Most fish seem fairly adaptable but Rams seems to be one of the ones that are less tolerant. Beautiful fish though! - Mikrogeophagus ramirezi – Ram (Apistogramma ramirezi, Papiliochromis ramirezi, Microgeophagus ramirezi) — Seriously Fish

    Shoaling fish in hard water

Info on both: Espei Rasbora - Trigonostigma espei – Lambchop Rasbora — Seriously Fish Lemon Tetra - Hyphessobrycon pulchripinnis (Lemon Tetra) — Seriously Fish As others have stated, I find it very rare for fish to school. I think to see this behaviour regularly you would need a bigger...

    Tank overstock?

Cheers Steve. Due to finances I doubt my tank would be anywhere near ready until some time in January though. Whereabouts in Portsmouth are you? There are quite a few LFS around us.

    Tank overstock?

Arghhhh! I am in Fareham and I would have definitely gone halves but don't have the tank ready for them yet.

    Tank overstock?

I would suggest no more than 20. Info here - Danio margaritatus – Celestial Pearl Danio (Celestichthys margaritatus) — Seriously Fish
