Critique my aquascape Aquascape not so good? :/

I really like it how it is. I would try to get that substrate covered with more plants and I think it will look great.

    Riparium Blending Fore and Background

You could put a black background on the tank and use some of the same stuff to line the inside (front) of the caddies. You could also try a mini moss wall on them. I also used floaters whose roots obscured their view.

    Getting plants to stay down!

Are you planting when the aquarium is full (of water)? I find it best, especially with carpeting plants, to fill the tank up so that the substrate is nearly covered by water. You can then plant into it without the plants floating away. Cover the plants and substrate with paper or another...

These Driftwood pieces something you would put in your planted tank ?

For me it's coming up to the time of year where I can prune a few pear branches and then leave them to dry out over the winter.

My current 'scapes - 65cm NA and 30cm cube

I think this is what a lot of people forget about. Some tanks can tank months to reach the desired end result and it can test your patience! [emoji4] I recently planted up a 'cube' tank and growth is certainly patience-testing. However I have zero algae and have to do very little maintenance.

George, how are you finding the Odessa's in 60cm? I had some in a Rio 125 ( lovely fish by the way) but felt they could do with more room as they were very active fish. Tanks look good. I especially like the cube and hope I can get mine to look half as good.

Re-kindled. Suggesting you had fell out of 'love' for the hobby? UK aquascaping without George Farmer. [emoji33] It does not bare thinking about. In all seriousness, it is good to have you back George and I hope you have found the passion again. I look forward to the AGA article.

    My wood won't sink

Just be patient. If it is very large it will take longer to be waterlogged. Not very helpful I know but I would just wait.
