    Do I need dechlorinator?

Been searching for a while but can't find a specific answer to this. My tank is currently a plant only tank with pressurised co2, dosing neutro and liquid co2 daily. Do I need to use Prime when I do water changes? How will this affect the cycle if I don't use it, will it kill off the bacteria...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Hey, Both this one and the other one look pretty similar. In fact I think they are the same brand as the one I have (in the picture above). I can't complain so far, especially for the price my system seems to be very consistent and leak free. Pleased with the results. Just make sure to...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

OK so after a fair bit of research etc. I have come across this chart which I found pretty helpful so am posting it for others who might find it useful. It details the co2 pressure-temperature relationship and also explains why we only notice a change in the high pressure gauge when there is...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Ok guys sorry for all the paranoid questions above, it all seems to be going well. I would remove some if it would let me :angelic: . All I did was to stop the co2 from the FE overnight and left the reg pressured to note any changes. The only change is a slight creep from 32 psi to about 38psi...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Thanks people, all set up now and pretty sure there are no leaks, gonna go and buy some gas leak fluid tomorrow from screw fix just to be sure. Here it is set up: Here's a shot of the gauges (excuse the crappy camera): Does the pressure seem right to you? When I plugged in the...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

cheers, could I just take the solenoid off? or is that unwise when it's connected to the FE?

    Fire extinguisher CO2

OK so it's all set up and solenoid seems to be working well. Except the first time I turned it on the low pressure gauge dropped from about 60psi to just below 40, where it is staying now. Does this sound right. Also, I wanna do a leak test but not sure how I can do one without turning the FE on...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

^^ Nice One! Still hunting for an "elbow" though, I've seen one on ebay but I'm not really sure whether to trust it with gas fittings. Might go down to the plumbing supply store and see what they say

Best pressurised co2 system for 19l

That's what I'm doing now since most paintball sites have switched to compressed air. Still trying to find out: A) do I need the solenoid off/on and valve open/closed when I press the lever to avoid blowing my gauges etc. B) where can I get a 90° elbow joint to go straight on the FE so my reg...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Could anyone confirm this as I'm about to open the gas and don't wanna blow up my reg before I even start :D

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Really!?! That goes against every guide I've read about setting up a co2 regulator which always say have the solenoid off and the valve closed when you attach it. Also, I wanna know if it's possible to use some kind of 90 degree elbow fitting so me reg will be the right way up? Anyone...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Hey, Thanks to this thread and comprehensive set up guides I have decided to go with a FE co2 with a dual gauge Regulator. Just wanted to check a couple of things before I set it up tomorrow. I have heard mixed things about using PTFE (teflon tape). Pretty unanimous on don't use it on the...

    New and confused

Ok so after hunting around for paintball bottles it turns out that pretty much nowhere will fill them up since most paintball sites have switched to air systems now. Thinking about going down the fire extinguisher route as Nayr suggested, seems a lot more accessible. My regulator arrives...

Best pressurised co2 system for 19l

Thanks, and is your TMC v2 pro reg a CGA 320 thread, and does it fit straight onto a normal paintball cannister? I am asking because I have a Din 477 to CGA 320 Adapter made by TMC, which says it will only work on TMC bottles/regulators. Surely all Din 477's and all CGA 320's are made equal...

Best pressurised co2 system for 19l

I also keep seeing "CGA320 to paintball" adapters which leads me to think the paintball bottles can't be CGA320?

Best pressurised co2 system for 19l

Hi, can anyone confirm for me are the paintball co2 bottles definitely CGA320 fitting? I have a din 477 regulator and an adapter to CGA320 but after reading through lots of posts I can't figure out if paintball tanks are actually CGA320. Partly because they are mostly American posts. Thanks

UK Shops for the Planted Tank Hobbyist

Ripples Waterlife. Stock tropica plants and 1-2 grow pots. They also stock seachem range of products and good selection of aquascaping rocks and substrates. Can't comment on their other branches but the flagship store at Bridgemere gardenworld is really good. Got some really helpful advice...

Nice One! Thanks for the help, much appreciated. Had a look at your thread earlier, your tank looks flippin' awesome and I hope I can replicate something like that one day. Please excuse my paranoia, just want to get it right

Ok great, so is that just at the moment until I install the co2? And there won't be any negative effect from using the Neutro + before the co2 right? I just get so confused between the many types of ferts etc. which is why I want an easy all in one solution :couchpotato:

    New and confused

Thanks for the help! That's one less product I need to buy then :joyful:. Wow that seems a lot of the carbon, the bottle says 5 ml treats 200 litres, so for my approx 17 litre water volume been using 0.425 ml per day. That works out at 5 or 6 drops with my medicine dropper daily. Is this too...

Hi, I'll try and keep this one much shorter :jimlad: Been looking at the fertilisers since I last posted. I was reading about the Neutro range of products supplied by aquaessentials.co.uk neutro CO2 | The Planted Aquarium Blog Since I will be using pressurised Co2 (in about 2 weeks...

    Just a quick one..

This is the regulator I have ordered. I am waiting for it to be delivered so will update how I get on. It is HSL Pro-01 (same brand as co2 supermarket, however this will attach to disposable co2 bottles and keep the bubble counter in a vertical position for direct attachment to the regulator).

Hi, Thanks for the constructive comments. The reason for my post was after extensive weeks of google research and eventually thinking I can't learn anymore without jumping in at the deep end and finding out (the hard way). An all-night session of researching and bouncing back between American...

I think I am going with the following which seems to be a perfect fit for the size: Aqua Japan 18w This will give me roughly 1 watt per litre / 3.5 watt per gallon so should induce enough photosynthesis to enable me to get full benefit and balance from the co2 system in such a small tank...

    New and confused

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and new to aquariums in general. I have set up my new Fluval Spec (19 litre) and have attempted to scape it in an Iwagumi style. I planted some HC at the front and some Staurogyne Repens at the back. Excuse the camera photos: I am waiting for my co2...
