Apologies for bad picture quality!
This is my latest project which I am trying out a dry start to see how it turns out, I don't know if I like the name yet so any suggestions welcome and also when it's full I haven't completely decided on fish for the tank. Was thinking about galoxy rasbora with some CRS but don't really know...
Shrimp really? Local lfs advised against it but I did wonder as some the amano shrimp are a lot bigger?
Would be much appreciated if you did want to get rid of some although my puffers aren't that big at the moment..
Mine aren't very timid at all they are out most of the time and tend to just rest on the plants at night. I have only been told about them with other fish but don't wanna risk putting other fish in.
It's a little more the fin nipping I believe they basically need to be kept by themselves as they attack other fish but that can also attack each other and they can do this until the other fish is killed :(
Ye they are something different bit of a pain when it comes to other livestock though!
Thanks Tim they are fine with the CO2 very inquisitive pretty much all the time.
I use a plastic bubble counter can't remember what make mate. I had two 1000 ND's on a 90l tank the same way mounted as you have on 100% and my algae issues were herendous as these tiles are very powerful and as they are LEDs encourage algae growth more than standard t5's.
I believe that reducing the light will just slow down the rate of growth, what size is your tile is it a 1000 or 1500?
Have you tried a blackout to remove the algae?
Thought it was about time I write a journal for this tank as it has been up and running now for about 4 months so here goes.
I decided to put this tank together for my dwarf puffers as they were starting to outgrow the previous home.
Details are as follows:
Tank
TMC Signature 450x450x300...
Sorry for the late reply guys I must have missed your posts :/ I have the 1500 suspended about 50 cm above the tank surface on 60% with an hour ramp up and down over a 7 hour period so at 60% for 5 hours. I have successfully grown a full carpet of healthy stuoragyne repens and have been running...
Hi,
I have just purchased an ada mini m tank and want to grow a nice carpet on this tank of something like eleocharis so mini but don't know what light to go for I would like to use t5 as apposed to leds anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks
So basically I can leave them in there and the puffers will be fine? I just don't find them very aesthetically pleasing but main concern is for my other tank inhabitants lol
I read online that they can potentially kill small adult fish and also can eat fish eggs? This is the only reason I was worried about the puffers, and you're right I won't be putting any shrimp in the tank.
I am confused now as they do look like hydra but the tank has been running for couple of months and nothing new has been introduced? They don't look like the white spot in that link :/
Hello,
I don't know if this is in right section but didn't know where else to put it. I have just been informed that by the looks of it I have hydra in my planted tank. It's fairly heavily planted only had two Otto's in at the minute but was just about to put my dwarf puffers in however holding...
Using a grobeam 1500 xg with controller ramped back to 60% and filter is a 2213 eheim (250 classic) and using the spray bar that came with it. Tank is a 450x450x300. Cheers
Hello everyone, I planted up my new tmc optiwhite setup about a month ago and everything seemed to have taken off quite well however it seems to have slowed right down now and now matter what I do I can't seem to get the dc to turn green? This is a picture of the current set up could anyone...
Hi there I have a 1500 grobeam and am starting a 450x450x300 cube and was wondering what height is best to hang it over the tank?
Any comments would be appreciated :)
I want to grow a nice carpet of SP but see it is easy to grow with medium to high amounts of light would CO2 help or is it not needed all the other plants will be low tech stuff,
Cheers
Hi all just wanted to say a friendly hello!
I am currently setting up my third planted tank and was wondering if anyone knows where I can locally get an optiwhite tank made?
Many thanks
