Im aware of the 10 year rule to be tested. Chris the test is to confirm the preasure can be held in the canister with out rupturing.
I have 3 2kg canisters FREE to anyone in the basingstoke area for pickup. Im after a second 5KG and then get them both filled as i need them.
The preset depth is what i use and the thing slurps as an alarm when its done i then know to change the setup to fill. I use a Python that i made using new spare parts and my own hose (Cost peanuts that way) use the water to start the syphon... Effortless.
As you say watch out on filling. I...
Im mainly interested in those with larger tanks but comments from all could still help and might help others.
Im interested in what you store your mix in and how you measure it out each day. I want to keep it quick and easy so a friend can dose while im on holiday with ease.
I have a 500l...
After a major leak on my DIY reactor and an Aquamedic 1000 turning up cheap im now using it. I get NO co2 from my bar at all.
I have mine VERY close to the filter soo its got to travel a further 2.5m once its out of the reactor.
Im also disolving enough to do a 500l tank and i think im a...
I thought i would update with my new car..... Like some i don't car about the price of fuel so here is my new beast....
5.7v8 with about 400BHP. Whats soo great is i can drive it all day long at 2000rpm and still be going quickly and the car is still having a rest. Makes it a pleasure to drive.
Any help would be good.
What amounts should i be putting in to a 500l tank to allow only 1-2 times a week adding. Im already putting in CO2 now my plants clearly need some better nutrition.
I only do a 30-40% waterchange a month.
Thanks
Antony
Is there anything out there that does multiple feeds?
Im fed up with my timers all going out of sync. I want one time to deal with 4 circuits at different times.
Is there such a thing?
I have this one and its quite when on and the needle valve is very accurate.

Still good after a year
I have found in my vallis a load of white eggs with black centers... What are thy from??? None seem to be hatching so i guess there not fertilised. Im trying to work out what has laid them....
How can i work this out.....
I gave up monitoring NitrAte a long time ago. My test kit used to show 80ppm in my tap water and about 100ppm in my tank. Now days it is sitting at about 60ppm and goes up on a water change. The kit is not easy to read so as long as its not going up and up on the kit i know its stable and that...
My beast is this rare little number. Its a Vauxhall Senator with a rare Irmscher kit and wheels. This is one of a handfull in this country.
Its great fun too with a mildly tuned 3.0 24v engine.
Ported and matched inlets with a 18% larger Throttle Body Full exhaust system, Filter and modified...
I use Osram T5's as there SOO cheap. If you have a WF Electrics near you, you can pick up the bulbs. I paid 4 quid each for my T5's Im just gonna get some T8's Osram 865's as ther 6500's
I have mine on a EX1200 and i use reducers and have no issue. Im running it on a 500l tank and have an uncountable stream and get some buildup over a few months. my flow is still good. I have mine tilted rather than straight and this made a difference.
Just be aware sometimes the screw in bits...
I now use an AM reactor and you can see the counter thats built in but its pointless.... Im now on if its too green/yellow then i just adjust it. my needle valve is very acurate.
I meant to wooden house the filter to tidy it up so its not an eyesore but if its in the tent its not an issue as noone sees it.
If thats a Quarantine tank how big is the pond......
If not get a food tub from Wilko's or somewhere they do them with a sealable lid for fresh veg (Potato's, onions Big stuff) more than enough room for the fish and water and to leave them in while you setup.
As to having them in bags I have transported many fish 45 mins in a rucksack on the...
Re: New Project "60L kitchen tank"
That would work as it would give you the option to change the viewing angle if board.
As to moving the tank yes it will be heavy but on the right surface will move with minimal effort. I would suggest something like a castered plate of some sort. maybe on a...
I have one of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AnySharp-ANYSHA ... 812&sr=1-1
It works a charm. To do the sisscors you lay some thin plastic on once side so you only cut one edge. my sisscors are now razor sharp!!!
My 500l gets a change once every 2-3 weeks sometimes a month and its normally no different in nitates and is clean as ever. i guess i do it out of pure fear that i will be shot for not doing it!!!
Re: New Project "60L kitchen tank"
I know this might be a bit late but could you not have used the underneath of the cupboard to mount the lighting in to so that the tank has no light on the top and can still be open??? make maintaining it easier as you will not need to remove the luminare each...
I had and broke a boyu as i have larger hosing the CO2 inlet was broken off when the pipes were moved due to being too close. This seems to have resolved this by the angle and they do it offically in 2 sizes.
My only issues is its not quite. you hear the diffusing on a boyu.
At no point...
When i first started i was on like 15 a min then 30 then 60.... I was seeing no change on colour i thought it was not disolving but i saw nothing to show that...... its now a long stream and more just so i can see i have actually moved the needle!!!
Right after months of sorting out the house the tank is back in the game... what can i do. I have a wife to contend with that wants certain plants to stay.
The Vallis must stay apparently as does the large Echindorus. The wood you can see will be hard to tear away from her too.
Im really not...
I have a bubble counter but is completly useless to me as its passing so much CO2 its nigh impossible to count......
I now just use it as a how fast is the stream of bubble are when adjusting.
I use a home made python and change about 1/3 of my water (500L) its not super fast on draining as I start it using the python then turn it off allowing gravity to do the rest.
Then refill. All in all it takes about 1 1/2 hours. I clean the glass during the emptying...
Done
Right.... been a while since i have been on here. i need a Drop checker that is a robust. my bala's keep spacking out near them and cracking them.
Its annoying as its like she goes to there before doing it... if i move it.... you can see the pattern....
Is there anything better than the...
The length of use from aCO2 will be estimates and depends on the size of the tank. but either way a 500g bottle to a 2kg FE is always going to run out quicker. Also the FE comes as a 5KG option if you have room.
Then as said you can buy what you want in the kit. not what the kit gives you...
It really is meant as a guide. This is also why i asked what test conditions you use are. there are maximum heights each pump work at and can be skewed if the outlet is lower than normal operating on the test
im hoping for a range on each of the common filters to give indications to what...
After a few posts on this and curiosity on some specs how about we set up this post for filters and there rates both clean and established. I suggest this also covers some other basic details like filter Size, Volume and Media Compartments. This should help when deciding what to use for a filter...
Looks a top job that!!!! i never did 45's on my old tank i did the cladding held it all together nice and strong. I used pine flooring for mine and it all clicked together to add strength.
That does look solid on yours !!!
Fair comment but yes its going on so its not peeling back on its self...
Well out of ease i have now siliconed the thread and then for good mesure the two opposing faces so when they touched covers a seal. done this on all the threads and then a bead as an O ring on the top cap. might be...
I started with a thin wrap. then tryed it thick and its help cure most of it but its just a little leak.... its annoying.
Also there is no flow issues for anyone wondering.
Its all togeather and in but im leaking still. doesnt matter how much PTFE tape i use im getting a minor leak from one bush....
Should i silicone it?? or aradite it in. If i araldite it its not going to part easily....... Thoughts.... It really is minor....
Thanks
PS. Im up to about 70 BPM...
This is up to you. I have gone for 50cm in overall size including any tee's etc as this fits comfortably in my stand.....
Depends on the flow rate. many recomend about 1000 LPH for large reactors.
Outlet is best to stop buildup of air in the filter causing noise. but some do pass it throught...
Thanks Dave. Im wanting to build up behind the vallis for some extra caves ETC as to other hardscape... where to put it.... hand what sort of shapes????
thanks
I never new 2 t5's at 108w was actually nearer 194w when working out the WPG..... or should you just go with 108 is what 2 gives and go with that as a guide???
The grey pipe is soo solid its unbelivable. its good to 16Bar once glued so should be solid. I looked at white pipes and there is the bits there. the washing machine tails are too big i think and could cause an issue.
TBH it is chunky.... but i feel like i could use it as weapon so im not...
Because it will build in the bend still and will not push out always due to the size of the pipework. the top tee allows for collection in a unified manner. Also any CO2 not disolved may colate here and still disolve.
Triming plants is not an issue its spliting them im not always good at. although the amazon swords i asked about when i uprooted it it was already split so that was easy.
unfortunatly its inert. but i do use API root tabs and seem to work fine at the moment.
Yeah im need some other bits in there. im going to give it a week or soo to let the fish settle and the roots to settle in then start buying some more plants to fill them gaps up.
i take it e tennelus is...
Lookup Convert.exe on google. it will do it all for you.....
In fact here it is
http://joshmadison.com/article/convert-for-windows/
does practically everything.....
After a day of getting wet and then waiting for it to clear up a bit. here is the before and after results.....
Before
After some comments and a bit of work i have removed the wood on the right completly. made the branches more upright and added the java fern up on top if this takes off well...
Yes it will fit but you will need a needle valve attaching to it. have alook on the forum there are a few on here we have used. I have an aquarium HK one and its fine. no leaks it has a solinoid too.
Hey it may be a highjack but at least its on topic!!!!
Na im going to call them to make sure its posted. its on first class post so likely it only was posted today so im expecting it before newyears.... im eagar now..... it was a good thing i broke it as i would have been impatient and...
Yeah as ed says Clear PVC is not cheap. the main issue is due to the minimum lengths you have to buy it in. if it was bought in 1/2 meters it would be ok.
To Be honest you could use araldite and a retaining screw or something. As the guys at hendeson's said the araldite will give the airtight...
I managed to break a hosetail so im waiting for it to come. other from that its looking like its fine.
I thought about the clear PVC but having it will induce Algae growth so not having it will be better although useful why testing it as you can see whats not working. As to gluing it in. as...
I use either King British or Tetramin Flakes
King british Algae Wafers and Pellets
P@H Bloodworm (Frozen) also the Brine Shrimp.
Artimis and Tropical Mixed Frozen from MHA
Live Bloodworm when i can
Zuchinni and peas
Maris Pipers at times...
Keep meaning to try earthworm.
I know i realised about the spiggot a little late. I do mention this at the top for anyone thinking of copying it. Also the air bubble is not a problem as i will fit a bleed valve anyway and if i find its a nightmare then i will look at altering it.
As to the joints i read up a few sites and...
This will get Updated as it gets completed
DIY Reactor
Well After searching and searching the only decent reactors were in germany and with the euro situation would cost me about 90 quid plus 15-20 quid delivery.
2 Issues faced me. Flow Per Hour on the reactors and 16mm tubing.
With this...
Balls will still manage to stick over the outlet and reduce the flow.
Im thinking of using some spagetti filter media as i have loads of it. if its knitted well it may not move.
well if it turns up tommorow i will be taking some photos before duraing and after. should only take a short while...
Yes thats exactly the way it will work. yes an air bubble will build up in the cap at the top. i have bought 2 brass tails and plan on one in the lid with another bit of tubing and a stop valve (Seen one in B&Q which will take the pressure) This is like on the aquamas one.
As said the only...
Big Thanks Ed.
Ordered it all from Hendersons. I called them and thy have 16mm Hose tails. They also did me a 1/2 meter peice of pipe too.
All in all it wat 45 quid delivered on a next day. (Thought i should with it being christmas) Parts also included pipe cement and PTFE Tape at this price...
I have this reg and overall its very well made. silent solinoid and solid connectors. it does only have needle valve control which is stiff but smooth when moving so easy to micro adjust.
Your a star ed. I was looking at 50mm Pipe (could go larger) and was looking at having a upbend at the bottom and a t-peice on top using the top hole as a service hole.
Using the bend to cause some water disruption along with some bio balls.
As to fitting the CO2. I have seen some manifold...
Just because sods law ill have got it wrong.

Where sells Glue fit PVC Parts with all the reactor bits i need??? There is online but sometimes it not all clear and im sure i will order the wrong parts....
How good will this be for a DIY reactor?? will this work? the reason is i have some usable parts that might work but some is slide in and tighten. Will this be secure enough????
As said the smaller the fuse the more likely of just a small bang resulting in need of a new fuse. if its over sized for the appliance you could cook something causing it not to work/be irrepairable.
