i was once advised not to use hot water from the tap when doing wc. I normally fill a bucket with water then letting it come to room temp either overnight or over a few hours before WC. I've not had many issues with that but would any one know why the hot water tap is not recommended?

the temporary stand look to be sufficient enough but like everyone else has say, just build the stand and do it all at once, that way you don't have to put the fish through stress twice.

HI they are surface mount soldered you should be able to remove them with a soldering iron and then solder the replacement back on

how about get the soil damp, get a car battery with some jump lead and 2 metal rods, dig the rods at at opposite ends of the tank then attach the leads to the battery then onto the rods, the worms will then come to the surface, i've seen this being done but not sure the method is correct

You could use a Car screen wash pump and you can buy them quite cheaply at halfords, just power it up using a 12v supply ;)

i would of thought that depending how close its is you might get osmosis and might find the mineral from the marine thank are finding their way in to the fresh water tank this can happen when tiny bubbles of air bursting at the surface of the marine tank send minerals airborne and thus landing...

The reason I'm trying to use RO is due to me wanting to set up a nano open top shrimp tank. The water in my area is quite hard and as its an open top tank ill be getting quite a bit of evaporation and limescale build up especially during winter as central heating kicks in
