Made a cleaner from internal filter some tubing and a lock top Tupperware canister.variable flow rate so kind to carpet plants works a treat also handy for water change no mess on floor. :D
Makes sense was just looking at the fe set up and thinking go that way as u said easier to prevent than cure a problem ,first I need to move some fish around change gravel ,there is substrate on bottom but coloured gravel on top just wouldn't suit plants..

Just purchased some riccia I intend to use as a carpet and maybe attached to some bogwood by means of glue..but will my Plecoptera ,swordtails,eat it. New to plants hence question thanx ..
