Please help me identify this moss!

I know it's not spiky moss, I have some of that as well in a tank. I'm thinking possibly it may be peacock moss (as I know I had some of that) but as it's grown under very very low light, because the tank was literally full of it, it has become more elongated than usual?
  13. jojouk

Please help me identify this moss!

I have a full bucket of it! It was in my shrimp cube, I finally thinned it out. It does grow very well!

I have fifa and need for speed at the moment. Voice control of the console is much much better, the development one kinect has been worth it. Much more responsive. My rio is now all planted, and fish are in their new home :) took me literally all day. Bought a few new plants too, whoops! I'll post a pic as soon as it settles a bit. Anubias likes being stored in buckets. It had grown MASSIVE over the two months it was in there. I actually had to trim it...

I have some plants left over from my 5ft, but they have been in a bucket for about 2 months, so some may be quite ropey by now! I have tonnes of peacock and weeping moss in my shrimp tank, so that will go somewhere, I have some ricca floating about too. Anubias that also needs nursing back to...

    Angel delight mark 2

Thanks for the nice comments :) Yeah, they spawned like clockwork every 2 weeks in my old 5ft, on the glass, on plant leaves, but favoured the filter inlet recently, which is a nightmare logistically!! Had them with another pair of angels, so the eggs never lasted more than 2 days. This time...

So here is my new project. Juwel Rio 240. Substrate so far is play sand, a bit of cat litter and a bit of columbo florabase. Hardscape is my lovely manzanita, and some seiryu stone. Didn't have as much rock as I wanted ideally, but one bit is being used to weight down the big bit of manzy. All...

    Angel Delight :)

So, alas, Angel Delight has come to an end. Tank has been sold (for a nice profit he heh after all my hard work) and I'm picking up a new one tomorrow fingers crossed. A rio 240, but smaller, less of a pain to reach the substrate, and my filters will actually fit in the cupboards, maybe even the...

    Angel Delight :)

Yep confirmed. Moving house. NOT looking forward to moving the tank. So it's all going to be torn down :( and then re-planted. Does give me the opportunity to put more substrate in, as its a bit shallow. Any ideas for a new layout? Will be selling some of the plants too, the vallis on the...

    Angel Delight :)

I have a dilemma. I may be moving house, and the house that I might be moving into doesn't have concrete floors. I will be on the first floor, but I would be able to put the tank somewhere on the ground floor, but then I wouldn't see it! Even the ground floor isn't concrete, it's joists, and I...

Play sand as cap on existing

I have 'a' in my tank. There is some seepage of the cat litter ontop of the sand, but nothing too serious. I shoud/will put some more sand in as I didnt make the cap very deep. I would do the same again. I still do daily dosing however :)

    Angel Delight :)

Thanks for your nice comments :) it was certainly a challenge getting my other half to agree to a larger tank, but worth it in the end! No I haven't yet. I have all the bits here, I just need to get my gas refilled, borrow a drill bit that is big enough for the bulkheads, and get my finger out and do it!

    List-like FTS thread?

Will there be a way that we would be able to go back and change the photo? My tank is ever evolving, looks different every month, so to keep it up to date would be nice to swap out the photo every now and again?

    Which Substrate?

Where is the best place to buy Ebi from, only found a couple of stockists in the UK :(
  63. jojouk

ok then who's ordered there ps4.?

Yes, now that the used games market isn't going to die overnight due to the changes, much happier about going down the Xbox route. I still like to rent my games before I buy them. I was never too bothered about the always on Internet connection, it was the used games that was really bothering me.

    TETRATEC EX 1200 General consensus?

I bought mine second hand 2 years ago. Never had a problem. Can be tricky to prime, but easy enough to sort once you know how. A very very big plus is the customer service is beyond excellent. Any problems ever and they will help you to remedy, send out spare parts, even replace the filter. Can...

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

I have made some progress. Fitted the a pneumatic bulkhead to one of the filter unit heads, to enable the co2 tube to pass through. Looks like it will work a treat :) I'll post a pic tomorrow :)
  68. jojouk

    Angel Delight :)

The only good thing about the overgrown left hand side is that it creates a nice sheltered and secluded spot for my pair of angels, and I have a nice cave from the wood for my apistos, but it looks messy to me.
  69. jojouk

    Angel Delight :)

Thanks for the nice comments :) I'm hoping that the 2 reactors will solve my co2 problems. When I can actually finish them that is! Called the company yesterday, they promised to be posted out tomorrow. Ordered them on 23rd may!

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

Hmm, my filter housing is labelled up in the opposite way, 'in' goes into the middle of the unit, and then would go down through the bottle, then up and out through the sides if than makes sense?

Yeah it's all shrimp friendly already, it's where they are living at the moment, but using an inert substrate, so not ideal conditions. Want them happy and breeding :)

    Shrimp and Substrate Questions

I kinda already bought it...99p on eBay, couldn't resist. However I do have another cubed tank, that's 27 litres, so I could put the cherries in the 18l tank, then have the crystals in the 27l? The 18l is a nicer shape tho.
  73. jojouk

    Angel Delight :)

Left hand needs work still. Planted some crypts balansae on the right corner to crow in and add some height to the back. Waiting for the blyxia to take hold in the foreground, and a bit of hair grass on the front left. I'm thinking I'm going to remove the big chunk of wood on the left to free...

    Shrimp and Substrate Questions

Thanks for the input :) Roll on pay day! Another question, I have a little 18l tank that im going to be using it in, how much do you think I would need? I would like a bit of height at the back.

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

I could, but it would still cause a kink. I dont think the elbows will be here tomorrow :( So I may have to hack it all together! Also struggling to get a bottle inside to stick to the head of the filter housing, may have to superglue it down!
  82. jojouk

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

I got the filter housings I linked to above in this post somewhere, paid an extra £5 to get some connectors, but they are straight ones, not elbow. Thought they'd be ok, but no :(

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

Welllllllll, I have made a start, but I hit a hurdle. I definately need elbow joints to fit the hose onto the units. The attachments at the moment stick out too far, and cause the hoze to kink :( However, I have successfully frilled and put the bulkheads into one of the head of the water...

DIY Project High flow DIY reactor - now with video

I hate that I over think things. I'm now thinking that once that bulkhead is screwed onto the unit, the bottom bit will stick into the pipe so much that it may impede flow a bit? It's a bit if a narrow gap as it is (3/4" ports) and if half of the pipe is obscured by re bulkhead? The only...
