I realised I never posted a completed picture of this tank so for the sake of completeness this is how it looked on the 14/11/17 a few weeks after adding pressurised co2.

So i missed a few weeks worth of updates, approaching week 7? now I think but there are a few large updates. First i decided i wanted to go down the Co2 route after all, so i have added pressurised Co2 to the tank, I got my hands on one of the new Co2 Art dual stage regs and an inline atomiser...

Week 5 update. Lots of growth this week. All fish settled in well no losses. Ended up getting rid of the floating plants, they were just not doing much for me and kept clogging the outlet of the filter. Looking at the week 4 - 5 pictures before and after the otos and shrimp i cant believe just...

First fish are in! 8 Otos and 6 Amanos. I'm going to let those guys settle in then maybe in a month or so get a Betta and that will be it for stocking i think. Photos to follow later when the lights are on and they have had chance to settle.

Week 4 update. Not much changed this week, a bit more fluff grown on the wood. Tank is now fully cycled and has been stable at 0 ammonia and nitrites for over a week, so i can now start thinking of stocking it. I'm going to head down to the LFS soon to see if i can pick up some otos and amanos.

Week 3 update

Have people seen that their https://www.co2regulator.eu/ website now has actual details, prices and pictures of the new reg rather than just teasers, shame their main website still seems to be not taking orders or have any info on it though.

Two week update. Still growing in nicely, added in the Cryptocoryne Lutea 'hobbit' at last and also some Cryptocoryne undulatus 'Red'. All planted up now. I'm away for two weeks so when i'm back its going to be time to start stocking.

one week of growth update. as you can see i moved the inlet as i did not feel i was getting much flow behind the wood, not convinced it did much. you can also see the DIY co2 i added. Unfortunately the anubias i ordered cannot be sourced as apparently the supplier stopped producing it so and...

Its going to be for a Betta, hence the floating plants i'm not actually 100% keen on the floating plants but if it makes it bring out more natural behaviour in the fish like making bubble nests that's more important to me,other than that probably some Otos and some Amano shrimp, possibly...

Changed the scape around to make just one group, most of the plants came today, minus some small crypt and the Anubias for the focal point. All tissue culture plants so pretty small right now, hoping it will grow in quickly though.

Final scape and some of the plants (anubias and Cryptocoryne Lutea 'hobbit' coming next week). All the plants are tissue culture so quite small at the moment I think once the crypts grow in and hide the wood some it will look much more natural.

There is a full plant list on my journal i'm running for the tank . Mostly though its crypts and some Anubis. the rocks raise about 2-3" up and form sort of a cliff with the front being lower. I also preferred the path however there was no real way for me to shift it further to the right without...

Played around with the hardscape most of today. Think i have found one im happy with.

faffed about this the scape most of the day, pretty happy with how it is now, i think once there are some nice bg crypts filling in the back it will look good. Its hard to tell straight on but the left hand side is actually much further back than the right. A bit more visible from the side.

its dennerle scapers soil, but the tank has nothing in it, its just started to cycle so im not fussed about disturbing it.

yeah i have just redone it very similar to that, i have moved the main root so that bulk of it is 1/3 the way across the tank and made a larger island on that side with all of the wood coming out of it. Just refilled now will update with pictures when the dust settles. :)

Thanks, not 100% sure what it is, its from a LFS about 5 years ago. Its not Lava rock though, looks a lot like Seiryu to me :)

On a side note, its about 1" deep in the front and 4-5" in the back, is 5" of substrate going to cause me problems?

So i have been faffing about back and forward over the last week, but i just cant get my hardscape to where i'm 100% happy, when i look at it something just feels a bit off about it. Any thoughts?

Hardscape rearranged, closer to what i was thinking but im still not 100% sold, Lily pipes also installed.

Right as promised a picture of the tank as it currently is. Looking at the old pictures the ones that have survived have really grown especially the anubis nana petite i did not really realise until looking at them now. Random shot of a shrimp eating an algae wafer i was using to lure snails...

Title pretty much says it all what are peoples opinions on "close up filters" cheap and cheerful entry to macro or utter waste of money.

Sorry to hear about the shrimp :( plants defiantly look like they are thicker to me though its starting to grow in nicely. on a side note does it not drive you mad that the tank is not centered on that stand that would drive me mad.

Personally i use a Nikon but that is simply because I could only afford a budget DSLR and preferred the feel and layout of the Nikon D3100 over the canon 1100D. Honestly like others have said they will both take great photos it more comes down to preference and ergonomics.

Some amazing pictures there George, and a beautiful layout. What lens are you using for your macro shots?

Can some one please help me identify what is wrong with one of my cardinal tetras so i can decide on a course of action. It is not eating has lost a lot of colour and is hiding all the time. He has a few white lumps on him but they look too large to me to be white spot? I could be wrong though...

OK so update time! My tank started getting neglected some what with just water changes and feeding happening regularly mainly duo to the stupid amount of time my degree is taking up. The weaping moss got so over grown that it cut out a lot of light and killed off my big swords so i took it all...

Well it has been just over two weeks since planting and everything is going well, a small amount of melting at the start but everything seams to be doing OK now, growth is moderate as to be expected with just liquid co2. The fish are loving the new home. I am still struggling to get a good photo...

Thanks guys, I'm still not 100% on where to chop them thought I might just be being stupid, do I cut below each little right of leaves on the stems? there is about 5 on some of them, or each stem as a whole?

I ordered some Pogostemon helferi from aqua essentials for my 90l and it looks like this. how do I get it to look like this? have I got an emersed form or something? can I just chop the stems? any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Joe :thumbup:

Looking at both sets of pictures just now they are basically the same, I just cant make a hardscape layout I'm happy with. Maybe iwagumi is just not my thing.

I have always just found manual removal they best way personally, If they are reproducing faster than you can remove them then you may be over feeding the tank. If you are feeding just the right amount it does not leave much left over to support a large amount of snails. You can just pieces of...

that's more of a chopping blade from a food processor than a blender. I don't think an actual blender would work that well I think it would just blend the stuff immediately around the blade and not touch everything else. I wonder if I will get in trouble with the other half if I use our food...
