Hi Lia
Overall it's not bad at all. I like the sloping of the substrate from front to back. The larger driftwood on the left looks nice with lots of branches to attack moss and rhizome pants etc. The rocks have a nice colour and texture to them.
My suggestion are as follows:
The base of the...
At the moment most of the retailers I’ve contacted have a very limited stock and are awaiting new stock. Those that have stock are so far away from me. It’s really hard to judge pictures online. I just got some from the wild!
Where are you located?
Very nice aquascape with the drift wood and rocks. The big round driftwood on the left doesn't quite fit. The foreground looks empty.
Are you using CO2?
Welcome. Are you planning to keep your fish in the tank whilst you add the new substrate? The new aquatic soil or substrate may leak ammonia and nitrites into the water. This will be detrimental to the fish. You will have to select a substrate that does not do that. Alternative you can rehome...
Amazing results @Ady34 . Do you have any other animal in the top section like Springtails etc?
On a general note, are land snails good for a Paludarium?
If you want to do an entire take down you can do the following:
Get a temporary tank or container
Save plant cuttings and rhizomes that your want to reuse
Put fish and shrimp in with plants in the temporary tank
Run your filter and lights only in the temporary tank
Keep the lights low to keep...
Hi
The layout of the right hand rocks seam to lead the eye out to the right of the tank. Could you rotate the right back rock by about 30 degrees clockwise? The channel in that rock will keep the eye to the left of the tank. The tank seams crowded to me; to many rocks. As a result there is no...
Hi just work with the pH of the water you have re: plants and fish stock. Unless you want to go down the road of using RO water and mixing with tap water etc. This can be tedious.
@Qwedfg do a layout with the rocks removed. Then flip the wood over, such that the branches run from the bottom left or right side to the top of the tank. Rotate the orientation to help. To create the layered effect place the small wood piece on a plane in front of the bigger piece. You may...
@Qwedfg what are the dimensions of your tank? Looks like it has some good height on it. In which case use the hight and don’t have everything clustered towards the bottom of the tank.
He definitely has me rethinking my upcoming Wabi Kusa ! In fact he has stalled me completely…..along with the tank not available in the shops as yet!
What’s your ancestry with a name like O’Reilly?
Hi Welcome!
Your wood pieces are very interesting, however, I don’t like the branches pointing down as per your layout. I’d suggest flipping them over so they point up. There are loads of videos on YouTube to inspire you. Take your time and don’t rush it. Have you decided if your are going low...
So how do you give Potassium? What form of phosphate is used and how much? Are you not concerned about dosing NH3 (Ammonia) and the fish and shrimp health?
The recipe seams incomplete.
Hi
Can you give us the recipe for you macro and micro fertiliser as follows:
Chemicals used in mg
Volume of water used to make the stock solution.
Volume of stock fertiliser and to 100L aquarium
Frequency of fertilising.
Hi Rion
I would suggest visiting a few aquarium shops and they should be able to point you in the right direction re local aquascapers or advise on suitable temperature tolerant fishes and plants.
Hi Daejra
How are you planning to light your tank? What substrate did you use?
DIY CO2 is very difficult to get consistent results with. Hence, most move on to a CO2 gas cylinder and regulator.
Such a thing does not exist as every manufacturer has their own amounts of NPK. Make your own and try it out. Then make adjustments after 2 weeks. The above recipes are a good starting point.
I vaguely remember some species of Cryptocornyne may tolerate that so of heat. I’ve read about aquarists in America using chillers to keep the water inflow to their tanks cooler.
Could you find native species of aquatic plants and fish that are used to that heat?
Hi Ady It all looks amazing. It reminds me of a Tropical riverside rock wall in my home country of Trinidad. I like how the moss is growing out of the cracks in the rock. Can you take us through your tool box to the right? What's in the Dooa Mist spray?
Hamd allah ala alsalamah Hebeshe!
Have a look at this post, where we are discussing these home made recipes. It probably best to make your own mix of fertilizers as per the discussions below. I'm sure someone with more knowledge about the nutrient proportions will comment as well.
Which...
I got my aquascaping stuff out from the loft this morning. The fertilisers are salts bought from TNC. All the salts look good and dry. The instruments were bought from AquaEssentials.
If only I had a 20x20x8 cm tank, lights and stand! Oh and some plants and hardscape as well.
Well if you have seachem continue with that. It will be more cost effective to make your own fertiliser mix in the longterm with 3 tanks. You could source the chemicals from a hydroponic supplier. Is there an aquarium group in India that you can ask where to source the ingredients from? The...
