I am no filter or flow expert but I would imagine the spray bar would need to be shortest to maximise pressure. You don't want a too long intake though as it can make it awkward to prime. Personally I would have the 2260 on one side with in/outlet on same side, and another filter on other side...

After the leaking issues on hose connectors on my 2180 and 2128 I just like the simplicity of a big canister and powerful pump on top, very little to go wrong and on big tanks that's a bonus.

I run a 2260 with a 1262 pump upgrade (3400lph) and a 2180 on my 700LTish tank. If I had the choice again I would have gone for another 2260 over the fancy new eheims which I have had numerous issues with. Going by the 10x rule a 2260+1262 pump is nearly there, could use a smaller classic filter...

Re: James3200s New Altum... :) Tank Thanks Switch 1 week on from planting and the tank and filters have fully cycled, so I was able to add some fish :) Have gone with Columbian tetras and silver hatchets, which I am very pleased with. They seem to be coping with the CO2 levels well...

I have just spotted this littlen when introducing my amanos back into my main tank while it was clcyling. Definitely an Amano / Hybrid as there are no other types in there

I popped in here over the weekend, they have a huge selection of moss and good quality plants, really surprised with quality and of fish choice, its my first time there even though its less than a 10min drive from my office :lol:

A quick & easy solution on smaller tanks that I have used is to freeze 2lt or larger bottles of water, put it in the tank and it can help a fair amount.

Its more than likely that they are just not use to the co2 then. All is not lost, try and increase the co2 slowly over a week or so and see how they then react, unless you have good healthy plants then high co2 can be an issue. Mine took a while to get use to high co2, but ultimately I have...

I use a sieve almost every week when i syphon out the bright sand from my discus tank which has been mixed up with aquasoil and other bits, sand looks new after that :)

Cleaned out a filter today and forgot about the purigen in there, well its now getting rejuvenated.. must be about 1yr old or so.. Had the camera close by so took a picture of what it looks like after a year! Will see how it looks tomorrow.

Great start, especially for your first planted tank :) i like your hardscape so far, as you say i think you could do with some more aquasoil to the rear on the left of the big slope. I would add more as in the future the soil will tend to compact especially between the rocks. Not too sure on...

I have 3 koralias in with my wild discus. They don't mind it one bit and as ed says, the water is circulated really well and not so concentrated like a filter outlet. I have also experienced some hair algae recently and since adding 2 more pumps its really helped circulate those dead spots...
