    Peely's 55cm Cube

This has the makings of a good triangular composition. I like the tank size too, I'd quite like a tank this shape.
  2. T

    saintly's "Prairie Lands"

I still think Rummies are the fish for this scape. ;) My Nerites have never laid eggs, and even if they do I'm sure it won't post that much of a problem.
  3. T

    Nick's Journal

I do  that's a minor issue in the scape, though. You'll sort it out. Like the other guys are saying, it's best to trim it down. Maybe not to the substrate, but about 5mm above.

    Superman's Replant - 180l - Crypt's Causeway

    Britain's Got Talent 2009

I can't be the only one who watches this - anyone else? Come on Andy, I can count on you - me and you were X Factor buddies. I know a lot hasn't happened so far, but I'll be supporting these guys this year. Is that good or is that good? ;)

    C. Adolfi

I don't think anyone can predict fish behaviour, it depends on the fish. Having said that, at 6cm they aren't large fish and small Rainbowfish aren't known for eating shrimp. I think you'll be ok, but you can only try it and see what happens. I've never kept them though.

    Testing 3giphone

The two main pros to getting a mac IMO is the great design, and the fact that there aren't many viruses for Mac's around, they tend to last a lot longer than Windows.
  14. T

    Testing 3giphone

And they weren't exactly cheap to begin with! Ah well, we can dream eh.
  15. T

    C. Adolfi

As long as the gravel is fine enough and not sharp or anything, then they'll be fine. I'm pretty sure they'll be okay with those rainbows too.

Cheap Lily Pipes / Lily Pipes for a Fluval 105

Firstly, does anyone know what size lily pipes would fit a Fluval 105? Also, I've never bought lily pipes before, and I'm starting to think if I did then I'd be broke for life! Does anyone know if there's anywhere to pick up a pair of lily pipes on the cheap? Cheers ;)

Time to Change - Would love some thoughts

What species do you have now? Amazon Swords and Crypts have good root systems, although you'll need to let them establish themselves first. You could also have Java Ferns and Anubias attached to wood.

    What do you feed Corydoras?

Thanks for the advice guys! i have seen those two sites. I've got some TetraMin, TetraPrima and a bunch of other foods, micro pellets, micro wafers, tetra crisps, algae wafers. I'll also get some of the above that I linked.
  32. T

    Alternative Inlet/Outlet for Fluval 105

lol, can you actually do that? come to think about it.. that's a good idea! thanks :D
  33. T

    What do you feed Corydoras?

Ok, so something like this? http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/index.p ... ts_id=1782 Thanks for the advice, I'll probably get Bronze to start off with, they seem the easiest to keep.
  34. T

    Alternative Inlet/Outlet for Fluval 105

I'm planning to use a Fluval 105 on a 35l tank. The tank isn't very tall, and so the inlet/outlet are too large, especially the inlet being too long. Can anyone suggest another way of using them/some other kind of inlet/outlet that I could buy on the cheap?
  35. T

    What do you feed Corydoras?

I've never kept Cories, and want to get some this weekend. Having never kept them (or any bottom-feeder for that matter) I'm not too sure on what to feed them! Could anyone who has eperience with Cories recommend a food for them? Something that AE sell would be good. :D
  36. T

    New Tank Regime

I sorted out the Fluval 105 today! Everything for this tank is sorted now, except for the plants. I'll start a journal up once I've got things done. :D
  37. T

    New challenges...

I can't wait for this feature! Biotopes are my favourite thing. The tank that I'm planning to do now is goin to be a biotope. This will hopefully increase the number of biotopes entered into IAPLC, it's too scarce for my liking!
  38. T

    Aaron's 216l journal!

Re: Aaron's 240l journal! 18l doesn't seem that much for a 240l tank... You'll need quite a bit of whatever you choose to fill it out with.
  39. T

    New Tank Regime

I do have a Fluval 105 that I've never used. I tried to use it once but obviously did something wrong because it leaked and stuff... I'll give it another go. The only thing is, the intake/outake are quite large anyway.

    New Tank Regime

That's what I thought about the water changes, Andy. I've seen quite a few tanks on here where that's been done. Ed, thanks for that advice - it makes more sense now you've put it like that! Do you think (about the crampness)? I've got a similar internal to what I'll be getting - it's not...
  41. T

    New Tank Regime

Nope, no CO2 injection - just EasyCarbo. Thanks for the advice, Mark. That's the main thing I wasn't sure on myself. I'll wait for someone who has more experience with that to help out.

    saintly's Pastel Shades

I still don't get how you superglue Anubias to wood... So, you want to superglue the Anubias flat onto a piece of bogwood, right? Do you just dab a bit inbetween the roots and then slap it on? Oh, and this looks like another promising scape from what I can see! It's great that your mum loves...

    New Tank Regime

Ok, I'm planning a tank that I would consider my first real aquascape, so I want to get it right. I'd appreciate it if a few of the more experienced members could look over my plan and see if they think it's viable. Tank: 35l (approx. 50x30x25) Lighting: 14w (approx. 1.5WPG) 6 hours for the...

I am indeed thinking of adding some moss to the foreground, good idea. I was also thinking of getting some Cherry Shrimp, but might have to get rid of the Gouramis first. The foreground isn't that dirty - most of that is fine gravel etc but it's just come out like that in the photo for...

in regards to the above, I agree that it can be quite daunting when people first enter the planted tank side of things, let alone join a new forum where everyone seems to know everything there is to know. Nice! I'm sure he loves it. Here's a few simple tips that seem to work for me: - Switch the room lights off, tank iights on - as much light on the tank as possible - Flash off, but experiment with diffusing the flash by covering it with white paper (maybe several layers)

    IAPLC booklets - worth buying?

I've only got the 2008 booklet but I'm dissapointed with it. The photos are too small and there's not any information on any of the setups past the top 10 or so I think. You'd be better off buying a Nature Aquarium World book if you haven't already got all three, or from what I hear the Aqua...

    Peace @ UKAPS, please

That was nicely said, George. ;) I think we should see this as a fresh-start. I appreciate we're all gonna have our differences, but at the end of the day this is UKAPS we're talking about and we're all here because of our passion for planted tanks. Come on guys, let's all get along. (I like...

    Anubias Leaves Falling Off

Thanks for all the info :D that's really helpful. This is a non-CO2-injection tank and stocking is neither under or over-stocked. So I gather it's ok to dose TPN+ according to the bottle, no Excel and a water change say once a month?
  84. T

    Anubias Leaves Falling Off

Do you think? I thought they'd be okay, I've seen many other tanks where people dose this loosely with good results. How much/often would you recommend I dose?
  85. T

    Anubias Leaves Falling Off

This tank was set up in January and has been added to gradually since then. I've had anubias in there from the start. Obviously the ones that were added earlier on are doing better because they've had time to establish themselves. I don't know where they're coming from, but lately I've...

I think a comfortable shoal for this tank would be 20 fish around 5cm. For the larger fish, I don't know about Silver Dollars. You might have problems with the Angelfish/Tetras if you go for that option but have you thought about a Dwarf Cichlid? Something like Rams or Apistos.
