I've been following A1matts advice on the forum on growing moss on window stills and ive been growing taiwan and java for the last two weeks with daily water changes, and i noticed today a little microscopic white worm in the strands of the moss and i dont know how to kill them off. any advice...
Cheer Viktor, sounds like you've got you shrimp food pretty sorted!!
I'm feeding, biomax size 3 grenchem white pellet and tetra shrimp pellets.
Thinking of giving them some Hikari Algae Wafers anyone tried these?
What do you think of catappa leaves? Anyone tried bamboo, came up with the idea tonight as its chinese and the shrimps might like the bacteria thingys that'd grow on it.
during your water changes was it just rain water you used? and how did you stop larva from living in your water and other nasty's? Considering it, just want to make sure!
What is the ph of rain water? might consider using it in my crs nano im setting up. How do you collect it and stop parasites getting into it like you find in water butts.
Looking to give my CRS a varied diet, what food do you feed your shrimp as im looking for a few different foods to keep them in great condition and happy!
Cheers,
Flyingfish
Anyone know if there's any 27L in South Wales, only the 14L left in my local ones. If anyone has one they're willing to sell in south wales let me know by PM i'd love to buy one!
Had no idea where to put this, but anyway!

Just read the link above that Marimo Balls "feed on the harmful nitrates and toxins in your aquarium ensuring you have healthy water. They are great for reducing the algae content of your water by competing for the...
Got some CRS on the way and i just want to be sure that my fertiliser tropica TPN+ is safe to use with them.
Anyone kept CRS while dosing this?
Cheers,

i have 10 shrimp, only ever seen one or two take notice. but they are always on a leafs and rocks munching down on something. i just want to see them eat cause it can get worrying.
Maybe as they're only small and were sold as juviniles then might simply not be hungry and have enough food all...
HELP!!
My cherry shrimp wont eat, i drop an algae wafer in and one or two will go and check it out then maybe have a quick check then leave it. Why wont they eat? the ph is stable at 7.0 and there's no ammonia do i need to look further into water quality.
Or am i freaking out for no reason...
You made a beautiful cabinet then that wasnt enough so you put it in a wall, then finished it by doing a top notch scape inside!
Dude, you're my hero!!
Shrimp will even eat each other! If it can be eaten they'll eat it. How ever, they still wont eat the 'Tetra Crustation Mix' i feed them!!!! STUPID SHRIMP
is this float glass?
Top notch silicon work also, if you had used clear then nothing would be noticeable. But that defeats the object of showing your top work.

upload to photo bucket, then copy the IMG link on the right of the picture into the editor write box and BOOM you're away. I was looking at ordering a tank around Christmas this year for my christmas prezie!
Looking forward to seeing this.

Re: 120 x 55 x 55 preview 'Ruby'
Some great journals about at the moment! Wish they would get planted though, cant wait to see this in its 'bloom' I mean the title 'Ruby' says it all!
Echinodorus Tenellus has a few red shoots growing how normal is this? does it mean im doing something right or not?
Also, when i put my shrimp food in they dont take any notice of it. good or bad?
Thoughts on the tank guys?
Cheers!

If this isnt right could someone recomend a nano external that would be good for my 12l nano...
Bigmatt- i for sure dont want a green background! I was thinking maybe Micromanthemum Umbrosum and Lilaeopsis Novea-Zealandiae just to add some texture and variety.
Could mark give me some advice on the black background?
Shrimps are loving life! Need to get some crab cuisine for the some...
maybe a little more moss on the under side of the main rock would draw a little bit more attention from the forrest side and appear a little softer on the eye. what do you think about adding a small rock to give a better sense of scale?
Lovely idea, really like the wood coming out of the...
lovely tank, just seems to be missing something on the right hand side. how about adding a small little rock just to soften the look of the big rock on the eye, and adding a little bit of moss to the overhang of the main rock.
This drawing might make it easier for you to understand.
Just my...
any ideas on backgrounds? im sure you'll agree that the green wall behind spoils the tanks look entirely.
It also seems to be lacking something in the plant department. Any suggestions on plants to add?
really like this scape!
Made me want to use dragon stone in my next scape.
What are you using for your background? im not sure what colour background to go for on my nano, as the bright green wall behind it kinda spoils the look.
Cant wait to see this go into full growth, will be following...
Photos:
think the photos have worked this time!!
I want to put a back ground on the tank but im not sure what colour will suit, going for something basic. either black or white,
Cherrys have been in for a week nearly now, they're doing a nice job of keeping the algae at bay. Eleocharis has sent a load of runners and starting to form a nice carpet. Going to get a couple of shots up tonight for you all the check out, sorry about the lack of shots recently. Really pleased...
Cant believe it, did the liquid carbon technique this morning and i cant believe it tonight it looks like half the algae on the eleocharis has gone! added some easylife ferro as my iron source tonight so see what regular dosing of that (0.5ml every other day) i think i should be on a winner...
Hi mark,
I brought the light second hand so im not sure what it is sorry, i know its three eight watt lights but im not sure of their specifications although the middle is a different colour to the two on the outside. Is this stock lighting or not?
Liquid carbon will be here tomorrow so i'll...
Just done that stu, going to do two water changes tonight and order my new ferts. Even more of a disaster my Co2 has run out so will replace it tomorrow, any tips on getting it off the plants to stop more growth?
hair algae over most of the hair grass! NO!! Going to reduce my dosing to 0.5ml and do two water changes a day now, will be dosing liquid carbon and iron when it comes and am adding 5 cherry shrimp on wednesday. hopefully this will be the solution.
i'll be using that then from now on matt. YES!! Shrimping it up baby!! Added a baby cherry shrimp tonight from my edge tank, hes doing good loving the algae on the rocks of what there is of it. Going to go for about 10-15 cherry's but not sure when to add them as ive been taking water test for...
plants look great today! much greener, only thing is i keep uprooting them during the water changes but a few little runners can be seen.
PH: 7
Ammonia: 0
Should i stop daily water changes yet as its been set up since monday or carry on for the next week?
Cheers Matt,
I did try to add a slope but it kinda got lost in the planting and placing the hardscape. Next time it wil be huge!
I'm gonna up the dosing to 1ml daily of TPN+, any advice on increasing the 'greenness' of the plants?
Flyingfish
wow this is popular ;)
Any feedback on the scape?
Also how much fertiliser should i be dosing of my TPN+ daily? im currently doing 50% water changes daily for the first week with 0.5ml added everytime.
Cheers
hi nayr88,
its only a 12l tank so im thinking of running it on 1 bubble every 2 or 3 seconds.
Tank just been planted tonight and it looks great really pleased with it, just look for a nice plant for the background now. Will upload a full portfolio of photos tomorrow when water clears up.
