Cool. I guess a lot depends on your frequency of water changes; if you're maintaining 50% weekly WC , then mabye a reduced EI program? But that's the trouble isn't it-a little pinch of this, a little pinch of that, before you know it, you'll be back to full high-tech again! Jk ;)

Good afternoon, Manrock. Zoo Med Tropic Sun Daylight is what im currently useing in combination with the Grolux, but any full spectrum daylight lamp would be ideal. Btw I'm still using old an ol T8 set-up.

I certainly do. I find a combination of the two work by canceling out that glaringly purple effect you would otherwise achieve by going with full Grolux, yet still obtaining fantastic colouration in plants and fish.

I have a pair of platinum angel fish and use a combination of Sylvania Grolux and a natural whites. They positively glow.

Good evening. Yesterday I purchased 2 Nerite snais for my 5 gallon low tech tank . I've read somewhere they're prone to escape if there's a gap or space under the hood. Is this true? Has anyone here had an escaped snail, or indeed a whole crew go missing? Is there anyway to prevent them...

sorry but im lost now reading what ceg4048 wrote... If hobbyist "B" suddenly added sodium bicarbonate to his water, his kH would rise. No CO2 would be lost. He would still have 30 ppm CO2 dissolved but the bicarbonate would bond to more acid in the water and he would immediately see a pH rise...

Well that was my understanding,that the calcium wouldnt make the KH rise,unless it was calcium carbonate,but im sure gh booster contains Calcium Sulfate. Ive tested KH again today and it seems to be comming down a bit..... :? :? :?

Hi ive just bught some GH booster,and have added it to my tank 1/8 tsp per 100 litres. Thing is,its made my KH rise by 1 or 2 dKH.. I know it not a great deal,but why is this happening?

Hi Been out of the planted tank hobby for a while,but knew id come back to it one day (you know how it is :) I have a heavy planted 20 gallon tank,i dose EI and have a simple hagen co2 thingie,which i make my own recipe. I sit my co2 reactor on my light boxes and it heats it up and the co2...
