The only issue I can see with live food is distribution in the liquid. Liquid carbon, bicarb and ferts mix well, as long as you can keep it mixed well you should be fine

I use one for constant water changes, I change about 5% per day. I have a 3 channel doser for ferts, liquid carbon and bicarb

You could use something like a d-d dosing pump

i lowered mine down until there was no light spill on the wall. if you can get it down that far then light hitting the internal glass will mostly reflect back into the tank. At this point you are wasting about 25% of your light onto the wall and into the room.

RO/Pure water weighs 1000g/l so 1mg/l is a thousandth of a thousandth, so 1 millionth. 20mg/l therefore will be 20 parts per million.

So today was a little cabinet tidy, sort plugs, label things up and added an old Samsung tablet so I can control the lights, filter and water changer.

I'd suggest tropica soil or powder, either on its own or capped with an inert substrate. I went with florite black sand over tropica powder.

Hobby room for mine. Have had to automate the tank as I work away and the house is empty when I'm not here, so needed the space above for doser and under for auto water changes. Excuse the mess, I've only lived in the place 3 wks so far.

New plants in today, decided to raise the Fluval light to ensure all the plants at the back of the shallow section were covered. Easier for trimming too.

Little update. Eheim 5e 600t filter arrived and all setup. Decent bit of kit but I've given up with the network side of it for the night. Also my plant order from Aqua essentials came, but that's waiting till the morning now. Can't wait.

In marine tanks I always ran light over the sump to grow algae on the opposite cycle to the tank as the oxygenation etc then balances the PH. Also you don't want your sump competing with your display for CO2

I'll be honest, i used the Tesco 19p thin bleach with prime for about 6 years on my marine tank and it would always go back to white after 12/24 hours. I'd just rinse and soak in a strong prime solution after then back in the sump.

I do believe that alot of keepers long term success, especially fighting algae, comes down to lack of attention to cleaning filters. Things aren't looking good, ammonia readings are still good so it can't be the filter, so we struggle to figure out what it is. We don't realise that a poorly...

Not a swing arm type though, they are impossible to clean properly so end up getting dirty and not working properly. The glass floating ones are easy to clean and results are infinitely repeatable.

i was looking at Chihiros for my 80cm tank too but the lengths of most things were up to 75, then 90+ etc. I ended up waiting the extra month and adding a little more for a Fluval planted 3.0 at £160 Sits nice and low to the tank but with a wide beam and really controllable.
