Update: 3rd of January, facing a few problems Right then, I will have some pictures asap, but for now I will just have to describe it. My tank has had a little more growth, and my Alternanthera reineckii has calmed down a little, but I have upped the ferts slightly, because I was told that the...

"Out Of Sight" - Cat litter/Osmocote temp tank

looks interesting, Will be interesting to see it when it is all settled and set up properly! :D One really useful way to fill up your tank without making the water too cloudy, is to get a load of scrunched up news paper, and place it over the substrate, then put a plate on the paper, and pour...

A problem with alternanthera reineckii 'purple'

ok, thank you. I will give it a try! :D and one last thing, is there a way that I can kill off all the living animals in my tank, without killing the bacteria? I am over run with these strange worm type things and small baby snails. Any idea's?

I have got a problem, the alternanthera reineckii 'purple' has started shooting out loads of roots all up it's stem, it has done it at several levels, all where the leaves branch off the main stem, should I pinch these out, or are these Important? Any way, have an awesome Christmas everyone!

Vito's latest Rio 125 rescape Christmas Update

Yes, it is a bit out of control, but I still think it looks cool, yes I agree that the filter might not be working to its full capacity or the co2 is a little high, any way as for the plants, it may be worth while just gritting your teeth and pulling up the foreground and replanting it with...

    My Shrimp tank!

First I have sewn up all the holes in the foam, and I have trimmed it, so it is not the full height of the tank. I have also cut a small stip at the bottom which means I can take out the main piece of foam with out all the substrate falling in! I have also put the biological media in a media...

ADA vs Oliver Knott vs Colombo?

    My Shrimp tank!

I did a small experiment on my tank, I timed how long it took for my filter to fill up a 2 liter bottle( just moved the outlet pipes, so should be pretty accurate), I worked out I was only getting 70lph which I was annoyed about, as it is supposed to be a 700lph :jawdrop although I do have a lot...

Whats the best sand to use?

Yes, I second play sand, and if you put in a few root tab's it is easily converted into a good planting substrate, it is useful to have around as well because you can use it to cap other substrates.

Your Plant's look al right to me, the really lush look normally comes after they are properly settled in, and you are pruning them, but my only suggestion would be maybe to have the co2 on at mid day, and the light's on at 1300, your hours seem a little short, but I am not an expert at that.
