i would not bother. as i posted i had 1.5 bar and it would not work with up atomiser. i completely dismantled the reg trying to raise the working pressure. no such luck i'm afraid!

Hi, would just like to add that i am in the South Wales area and after alot of searching have found a place called Days Diversified in Swansea. They say that they will do the refills for £3.00 on a 2kg FE!! This is by far the cheapest i have managed to find. hope this helps!!

    fluctuating working pressure on reg

are you using a up atomiser? they need minimum 1.7 bar to work correctly and in my experience preferably over 2 bar, though not essential.
  6. G

    fluctuating working pressure on reg

i have had this in the past. i then after some advice checked, rechecked and double checked all my connections, using soapy water and i did find the tiniest of leaks. this seemed to cure the problem as i now no longer have it.

how long should I get out of a 500?

buy two of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2kg-Co2-Fire-Exti ... 3cb7a7741d for £22.95 then refill the empty one while using the second one. i have had them for £14 on ebay before though! one of these lasts me a few months on my 300l, running at a bubble rate too fast to count.

cant you just give it a wipe whilst holding it upright? i used to before i had my "lovely algae free setup" :-). i know its no biggie to do, but its still one less thing, right?

    CO2 regulators/ new bottle woes

ah fair enough. its just when i worked it out, the £80 rental fee would be more than if i bought new extinguishers at £24 a pop!! i use about one every 4 months. though that is gonna change as i've upped the rate! i gotta say though mate you must be using co2 at a serious rate to make that...
  17. G

    CO2 regulators/ new bottle woes

really? even with refills on a 2kg fire extinguisher of £3 that some people are getting. don't BOC want £60+ just to rent the bottle every year?
  18. G

    CO2 regulators/ new bottle woes

dont bother with that, complete rip off. just get a co2 fire extinguisher off ebay. they are on there for £14 delivered at the moment and thats for a 2kg bottle. you should then be able to get it refilled for less than a tenner.

co2 help please for large tank

1)the plants should be 'gently swaying' 2)some one can correct me but i think you still need to dose the water column when adding co2. just make up 500ml and add when you do a water change. i actually split mine into three times a week. 3)i would recommend 6 hrs period just to start. ps. the...

co2 help please for large tank

    1) don't know anything about DIY co2. 2)how much? you need a drop checker, but 3-4 bps is a good start 3)i would get and inline diffuser such as UP atomiser or a reactor like the one described in the tutorial. 4)the solenoid is used for on / off, but you need a timer to go with it. 5)more...

    DIY reactor

hi, i have built a diy reactor going by the guides on here, however i am seeing a few bubbles coming from the outlet and i seem to be using more co2 than when i was using the UP atomiser. i thought it should be the other way round? these bubbles are very small, though not as small as the...
  25. G

    lighting times

errr, your last statement contradicts your first. you are saying 12 hours under the icelanic sun is not the same as 6 hours under equatorial sun. that i'm afraid backs up my theory completely!! two tubes of light is not the same intensity as say four tubes. btw, i have the algae completely...

    CO2 choices and decisions ???

mine cost about £25 to make, and i have not installed a bleed valve, for the simple reason i saw no need to. my gas is turned off at night so any build up will dissipate. i chose to insert the gas at the reactor as is done on the rex grigg model. i have tested for leaks with a hosepipe turned...
