    Which t8 tubes?

Yeah, I think the grolux has a "warm" light appearace. Thinking more the "whiter" light, so either the light or flora. Initial thoughts are to stock with a large shoal of smal tetra - posssibly green neon rasboras - but either way, lots of small fish! and loads of shrimp. Plants will be...

    Which t8 tubes?

I have acquired a 240ltr Juwel tank which is to be a low tech, no co2 set up. The existing t8's I assume are pretty old and am looking to replace. I've looked at lamp specs.co.uk, from which I've bought t5's from, but not sure which t8's to get - oceanic light, flora or grolux - can any advise...

    which diffuser?

I'm looking for a new glass in tank diffuser. Nothing much wrong with my current one, other than the bubbles appear a little large now it's been going a while. Use of co2 isn't really an issue as I have a 6kg cylinder which lasts over a year & costs pennys to refill, so I've no concern...

Slightly random question, but I'm trying to find the name of a particular fish which I can't remember. About 1 inch long. Looks a bit like a small cichlid. Red vertical stripes Blue "shine" all over Males more colourful Blue trim to pectoral fin "hovers" in amongst plants at low level, have...

    Inline Heater Query

I am considering installing an inline heater, have read around & have just a few questions: Which one would you recommend? Will it increase (filter) noise? Will it reduce flow? Filter is an aquamanta efx400 (1400lph) - a decent filter, but probably not the quiestest - not an issue due to the...

I have the bottom one, but the previous model (A-164) which is exactly the same except you need an alan key to adjust the pressure, rather than having a nice knob! Has been great so far - over 6 months. The needle is a little sensitive when adjusting, but that's nothing major.

    Staghorn Algae and EI Dosing

    Killing algae with excel

The plants will be loving it as a source of CO2. Try spot dosing, then it will kill the algae, just be careful with the concentration so close to the plants.
  27. C

    Killing algae with excel

Are you spot dosing? You need to turn the filter / air off. Put 1ml carbo in the syringe mixed with 1ml tank water and squirt directly onto the algae and leave it for a few mins before turning filter / air back on - this is so the carbo stays around the affected area for a bit. Re hair algae...

I have it floating in a shrimp tank - holding in place by resting around a piece of wood with java moss on it which is close to the surface. It produces a lovely half sphere if left to grow. The current isn't huge so it keeps shape, so no nightmare of little bits everywhere. I removed it for...
